The Unthinkable: City V Bolton Semi Final............

I saw Bolton play Villa at Wembley in an F.A. Cup semi-final. I don't know if i could ever go back for another one because i'm still suffering trauma from this:

Didn't Utd and Oldham have to trek down to London for an F.A. Cup semi-final? Well Oldham did, obviously most of Utd's support already live there.

Got beat at city a couple of days later too, 2-0, put us second and we stayed there.

Bolton looked a bit jaded after that game. Bit of trouble on the away coach park afterwards too.

Alot of people on this site just have a general hate of everything London or Cockney as some people generalise a whole place as something that is about 1 square mile in london.

If you look at it properly though, Wembley is a leveller, nobody plays there frequently enough and yes it may be an inconvinence to people but thats life. Its not Wembley obssesment but you really think the F.A will fork out £900 million on stadium and then just have 2 cup finals and some England games there over a year

Is it just me that thinks the 2 semis would be good at the Millenium Stadium?

Big enough stadium.
Fairly neutral in terms of travelling distance.
Worked whilst wembley was being built.
Keeps the Wembley Final only experience.
Fans wont destroy rival grounds.
Even though its in a different country would anybody have a problem with it (bar the FA)?

So what's worse? Giving the Rags a few grand(as if that would make any difference to their debt) Or. Taking over OT and covering it in blue and white and a few thousand stickers, etc. Getting to the FA Cup final after winning the semi at OT.(Ouch!) All walking to town en-masse after the game and have a 'massive ' party in the city centre and Shambles Square with not a Rag insight. F*** me! It's a no brainer. On the otherhand you can go to Wembly for the semi if you want. Out of pocket by a ton and not getting home until 10-11pm at night.

Only just seen this thread. Great post jrb, completely agree. Imagine the look plastered on all them dirty rag's faces when they turn their TV's on and see the whole of Old Trafford covered in blue shirts, banners, flags, balloons, stickers on their dirty seats and stair cases. It is indeed, as said above, a no brainer!

Having the semi at Wembley ruins the occasion of the final as the players and the fans have already been there/done that a few weeks earlier.

I'd be all for a City/Bolton semi being played at OT, it's local so no travelling costs for most of us and there would be more chance of getting tickets as Wembley is 50% corporate or so.

Any money it would raise for the rags is pretty irrelevant in the great scheme of things as it's highly unlikely they'd raise 50% of Rooney's weekly wage from the game let alone enough cash to actually put into action.

So yeah, I'd be up for a OT semi final, it makes sense, it's economically more viable, it's local for most of us and it'd mean a Wembley final was special as opposed to our 2nd trip there inside of a month.
