The maximum points Chelsea can get is 96.
So, to get 87 points they can:
- lose 3 games (-9 points);
- lose 1 game and draw 3 others (-9 points).
- draw 4 games (-8 points).
not unreasonable.

We have no room to manoeuvre as the maximum number of points we can get is 91.
One defeat takes us down to 88.
Two draws takes us down to 87.

Realistically we have to win 11 out of 12; or win 10 out of 12 and draw 2.

Lose against Liverpool and our hopes are nearly gone. Hey draw against Liverpool and we only have one more draw in the tank.
IN MY OPINION Chelsea won't get 87, IF they do then we probably won't win it.

and frankly that represents a bit of a collapse.

So you're banking on the mother of all collapses?

No, just giving an opinion.

Chelsea have dropped ten points in their last twelve games with only ourselves and Spurs as decent opposition and no champions league, imo they'll drop at least ten more before the end of the season.

I agree ... Costa is turning out as I predicted - similar to the Beast. Powerhouse with big early season impact, but people starting to get the measure of him. And frankly, I think Negredo has more basic ball skill (Costa could never score that 5th goal against Spurs at the Etihad last year in his dreams). They were very lucky to beat Everton and also struggled at times against Villa who are simply dreadful right now.

We only need to pick up a win and a draw and then overtake their goal difference. If we stay unbeaten and get at least 30pts (i.e. 9 wins and 3 draws), I think we have a pretty decent chance.

There is one team that knows how to hunt teams down in a points chase, and it's City. We've done it twice by winning all the remaining games that mattered.

More importantly, though, the teams ahead of us have crumbled.

United and Liverpool let the pressure affect their performances, and Chelsea know we are snapping at their heels.

Chelsea's manager is, by his regular outbursts, getting rattled and knows we are not going away. and given our last two performances, he has every reason to be concerned.

Our players know how to do it, and we are now starting to look like a team on a mission.

Nine goals in the last two games is some going, and with the talent in the team plus our recent history of overhauling a points deficit, I see no reason why we can't do it again.

the things for the chavs is that fabregas, matic, hazard and terry have played all the games they can (I think the last two have played every minute?)

that is catching up to them. infact the matic suspension might help them if they dont drop points in the interim. But I think Hazard is probably done for the season and he is 1/3rd to 1/2 their attacking impetus.
