The "which famous person died today" thread

I was hearing today that when the Isley Brothers first toured the UK in 1964 their piano player was a jobbing musician called Reg Dwight ( Equity had the UK as a closed shop so they couldn't bring their own band ) - he told them he had a book of songs he had written - their response was "no thanks son we have our own material" How things could have been different eh?

And he went on to break his leg at Wembley.

Well the songs wouldn't have been any of the ones we know, as he hadn't even heard of Bernie Taupin in 1964 !!

yeah but had he found some success writing for the Isley Brothers would he have even bothered with Taupin- history is made in some odd ways
