The "which famous person died today" thread

The tears in that smallest kid’s eyes. They didn’t know they were going to be caned for that scene. You can tell.
Yes I read a book about all of his films.
They were only supposed to be filmed from behind and obviously not hit. 2 mins before filming Loach tells the head to hit them including the little kid.
It's the only way Loach could get the reaction from the kids that he wanted..
Loach then wanted to do a retake - but not on the little kid. The rest of the boys refused initially and then agreed for an extra 50p per whack!

Sad to see the passing of Wolfgang Pietersen, Das Boot is one of my favourite war films (and mini series). My kids loved Never Ending Story when i watched it with them recently (although I was a little bit surprised to see the tremendous racks on the sphinx-like statues). In the Line of FIre is a classic too, and Enemy Mine an underrated gem.

Das Boot is sui generis; Herbert Grunemeyer et al.

This is a sad one , i watched him on pop idol and if twitter exsisted he would have been trending for murdering britney's song

Nobody had a bad word about him and he went on to be very successful , good for him , 41 is no age and i hope he didnt take his own life , RIP
Him doing that Britney song was a bit of a watershed moment for me. He obviously had people laughing at him but he had balls of steel to get up and sing it, not only sing it but own it.
If any kid wanted inspiration in how to be single minded, wanting to make it and have determination they needed to watch Darius do hit me baby one more time as he made it, became successful, had the lifestyle and got the supermodel wife.

Was gutted when I heard he'd passed, I really hope it was natural causes and not another life lost through mental health.

Rip, I didn't see him on pop idle , but I remember colourblind.. what I want to say though is you said 41 is no age, Olivia anewton John died recently at 73 and someone said no age.. I'm wondering when does good innings kick in?
I glance over the obituaries page sometimes and if I read Alan Drinkwater died at 72, I don't think poor Alan, taken too young.. but I feel like Darius being 'no age' is acceptable.. not too many people die in there 40's. Bit like walking in a cemetery and you see Steven Whitehorn born 1946 died 1949, immediately you go that's no age. No death's are good, well, some are, but in general..

Comedy actress Josephine Tewson, , who appeared in TV sitcoms including Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine, has died at the age of 91. Tewson was best known for playing Elizabeth, the nervous next-door neighbour of Hyacinth Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances between 1990-95.
I think she may have have been in a few of the Two Ronnie's sketches also
