Heretic! ;)

Try some Clonakilty whiskey from my hometown. You'd probably like it better than West Cork. Although the Black Cask version of the West Cork is not bad.

I tried a whisky called Spade and Bushel a few months ago in a pub and it was 57.5%. I actually couldn't think of anything to say for a while, lost a bit of brain function that day I think.

I have a bottle of Tullamore Dew and it’s fine. Bog standard I’d say.
Have you tried Roe. You won’t get an aged one as they are relatively new or should I say recently reopened but like Teelings it is distilled here in Dublin.

There are quite a few expensive choices here too.

I have quite a few unopened treasures waiting for a night with a group of friends that will appreciate them.
I have a Sexton and a Japanese Nikka awaiting an appreciative audience.
I have two Redbreast. One a single pot Lustau edition and the other a 21 year old.
I also have a Michel Couvreur which was brought over from France for me. I think it’s a Scotch blend matured in Sherry casks.
Could be interesting.

I had a special edition Midleton which I know was expensive but unfortunately it’s now gone.

All presents bought for me.

So you know what to get me for Christmas.


Edit: I did find a 12 year old Tullamore Dew at the back of the cabinet that I’d forgotten about. Very different. Almost perfumed. Not bad at all, better than the bog standard.

Not a big whisky fan but a mate gave me a glass of Silkie in Donegal, it was lovely.

A bit about it below I’ve copied and pasted….
Sliabh Liag Distillers has shown its smoky side with this Irish blend, dubbed The Legendary Dark Silkie! Taking inspiration from 19th century Donegal whiskey, a triple distilled peated single malt is at the core of this expression, peated to about 22ppm and matured in sherry casks. It's then blended with a bourbon-matured single malt as well as a grain whiskey having been rested in virgin oak. The result? A fruity, subtly smoky and dry bottling which is sure to convert Irish whiskey lovers to a hint of peat!

Any Irish recommendations? I've a relative traveling from Ireland offering to bring a bottle over. Red Breast ? Teeling? Or am I overlooking something finer?

Can’t go wrong with either. A ten, twelve, twenty one year old Redbreast. Superb.
I love Teelings. As has been recommended in here, the small batch rum cask is not overly expensive but beautifully smooth.
Midleton. Really good.

Drumshanbo is relatively new to whiskey but I’ve tasted it and it’s good.
Same with Roe.

Mentioned it already alongside some of the other good recommendations on here; but because I am biased, Clonakilty Whiskey from my hometown is good, especially the Port Cask version. Very smooth. It's pretty expensive though. Well it is over here in the USA anyway...
