The whisky thread

Don’t normally go for scotch as I’m not overly fond of the smokiness but my godson got me a nice gift set last Christmas.
Speyside and Ledaig were the highlights. Both pretty good.

Had guests over from France and brought them locally on a whiskey tasty night. All Irish, hence the spelling.
Great night. My missus did the driving for us and we tasted 9 whiskeys between the three of us.
Yellow Spot
Green Spot
Jameson Caskmate Stout
Jameson 12 year old
Redbreast
Teelings Sherry Cask
I think there was an aged Powers
Midleton Very Rare ( I think)
And I think the last was an 18 year old Jameson. Can’t remember.

When our guests left they presented me with a Midleton Very Rare in the presentation box.
Great stuff.

Had a 10 year old Tipperary last weekend which really surprised me.
Very mellow and dark with a lovely flavor.

Not impressed by Tullamore Dew.
Ordinary Jameson or Powers are bog standard but pleasant. Prefer Jameson.
Black Bush or Bushmills are ok.

The Roe distillery has reopened on James Street after nearly a century and Pearce Lyons has opened there to.

That whole area of Dublin is becoming a brewery/distillery Mecca.

Planning on taking a day off at Christmas and maybe get s couple done.

Delved into the realm of Aldi bourbon (Samuel Joes)in the last week or so, just got myself another bottle. If you’re a Wild Turkey, JB/JD fan then you’ll love this stuff!
