The Who vs The Clash

Utterly pointless discussion. Both brilliant in their own way. You may as well compare apples with pears.

On the set lists there the it's close, maybe shaded by the Clash. Except that's probably the best the Clash did. Whereas The Who went on to do far more great stuff.

Met Daltrey years ago.

Brilliant bloke..

Stole his cup that he was having a brew in.. haha.. souvenir.

Mmm ,big fan of The Who,great band but always thought Daltrey seemed a bit of a dick.

Saw The Who at Bingley Hall, Stafford in 1979, they were unbelievably good! Saw the Clash a year later at The Apollo & they were okay! The Who for me!

I was there at the Bingley Hall gig as well. Still rates as one of the best live music events I've ever experienced. I'll never forget the encore which seemed to go on forever; I suspect because the band were having as much fun as the fans!

Well....The Clash are alright, The Who however are on a completly different level.

I once read in one of their books that the band later found out when they were on the American tour that the hotel managers would put them up in pretty shite suites. The guys would wreck the rooms, the hotel managers got paid in cash, the hotel chain got the insurance and the shitty suites were renovated. They made very little money out of the American tours

Never saw The Who live but did see Joe Strummer at the carousel (international 2)
