Just out of curiosity...is it the accent that you guys don't understand or the slang/word choice that they're using?

The best TV prog ever made imo. I watched all 5 seasons when they were on BBC2 with subtitles on. Wouldn't have got past the first episode without them, I don't think. I see SKY Atlantic, having started showing it without subtitles available, have now made subtitles available. They even reshowed the episodes that they had initially shown without subtitles with subtitles late on Sunday night a couple of weeks ago. I assume loads of people contacted them and told them that they needed subtitles.

Also worth knowing that the first 5 or 6 episodes are pretty difficult imo. It was a bit of an effort to get through them but was well worth the pay off.

Just started re watching thanks to this thread and I've motored through the first season already.

I can see how the slang would be tough so feel free to post on here and I'll try to interpret, I grew up not to far from good old bald ih more

I loved this show on first go-round, but I didn't fully appreciate its brilliance until re-watching.

I think season 2 is my favourite.

If anyone's interested look it up on IMDb to find episode summaries plus cast/characters etc.
I hope Sky see this right through without a break or I maybe forced to buy the box set.

Anyone who wants more Wire, do get the book, 'Truth be told'. It offers episode guides (whihc can be skipped in truth) in between long essays written by and about the whole wire story, cast, crew etc.
I'm not a huge reader, but I ploughed through it in a week.
