The World is a wonderful place thread.

At the age I'm at, it's the small things. The other day, I got up early, around dawn, looked out the back door, don't know why, I don't usually. Hung in the sky, bold as you like, there was that early-morning moon that you get when we're moving towards winter. Still silvery, about half of it visible, valiant against the coming light. I just thought, “This is beautiful. It's good to be alive for this.”
I saw a full moon the other night. Shining bright golden in a dark blue azure sky peppered with emerging stars. It was incredibly beautiful.

Than I stepped in some cat shit.

Isn't that an analogy for life.

We used to have some massive full moons in Spain, they were that big and bright red it was almost scary. I could never work out just why they were so big there and nothing like it over here.

Same. Getting up out of bed and getting to the bathroom in time is a bonus nowadays.

I've seen them mate. They are fantastic. Just another thing to love about that beautiful country.

Being able to see the beauty in cat shit too would make you a Zen Buddhist.

Edit: by the way, “We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars” — Oscar Wilde, and as quoted by Chrissie Hynde

The world has math and science and in particular quantum mechanics and cosmology. There's so much we do not yet know and it's wonderful whenever we find out more.
