The worrying thing is

Its not bollocks. I know people who wanted Hughes out before he got appointed, due to his united history. I dare say there are some on here who have the same narrow-mindeness. And the simple counter-arguement to the track record is that he has years on Hughes, giving him an advantage in terms of being able to have had more time to win things. His record looks good, yes, but there is no saying Hughes couldn't have gone onto win the CC, starting his trophy collection as a manager. We all have to start somewhere and I believe he was oncourse achieve our first trophy for years. Also, if Mancini is so good, how comes he was never linked to the madrid jobs, the barcs jobs et al? The only link i remember of late is when Leicester wanted him before Pearson!
Hughes has been a manager since 1999 - 2009, Mancini from 2001-2008. Hughes was hardly turning down big offers was he. As for not being linked with Madrid here you go ;)

Alot of that was with Wales though?! I stand corrected on the job offer thing, however i'm sure you realised what I was trying to say. Make no mistake thoough, I really want him to succeed just like i wanted Hughes too. I just think Hughes wasn't given the time he deserved, seeing as he was more than on target for the targets set.

And this has been my arguement from day one, and not just that, Mancini or whoever the 'better' manager was going to be, will want his own players, meaning they have to gel. It is a vicious circle with failure written all over it, unfortunatley for us, the fans. Mancini will get more patience from most on here though, as he has no links to united.

Oh God, are you still plying that line of rubbish fella?

thats bollocks innit, he working with Kidd FFS

The Rag link didn't bother most supporters I know.

The reason he got sacked was results- but for me it was the way we just didn't compete to win the ball when it really mattered - the fact that teams who couldn't beat anybody were not just getting results against us they we banging in 2 / 3 goals whilst doing it.

Yes we looked good when attacking but even great attacking teams need to drop back into some sort of organised shape when they lose the ball, we just did not do this, and this should be the managers most basic instruction.

It was clear the majority of the players wanted Hughes to stay paticularly the likes of Bellamy, Given, Tevez, Lescott, Bridge and Barry and SWP. TBF barring Bridge and Barry recently the others have been top notch. I just wonder if they are going to WANT to play for Mancini like they did Hughes.

Are you Mark Hughes' agent? Or one of his coaches?

You have posted negatrive shit about City for the past 24 hours, and as soon as one thread closes you open up another.

Will some players not play for Mancini? Couldn't give a toss to be honest. If they don't want to be here, then clear them out.

I felt the exact same way when Hughes was in charge. If he didn't like someone then best to ship him out. I was a huge fan of Elano, but if the manager doesn;t rate him then he has to show balls and get rid. I understood that.

So if all of Hughes' signings don't want to be here... put them in the reserves until the summer than sell them off. No problem.

Hughes got his experience at Wales, as Mancini got it at Fiorentina and Lazio. At the end of the day it is frustrating me that people seem to be down playing the calibre of Mancini and comparing him to Hughes which is just plain embarrassing.

And we never would have been if Hughes had been given the chance to sign his transfer targets in jan

We will never know though will we as he wasnt allowed to see the season or even the christmas period out!!!

Thank fuck for that. If he had we'd be lumbered with scott parker, bentley and upson for the next few years. Let's see who Mancini can bring in...

Does anyone on the board think the squad has overachived? Because if thats the case you might have a point, I have to say I really don't see it, there are very few games on paper teams put stronger sides out than we do, yet we have only won a handful of times since sept.

I'm not embarrassed, thanks. I'mnot downplaying Mancini either, I am more pointing out the fact that other than Damocles, who talked up Hitzfeld, EVERYONE of the outers only could come up with Mourinho and Hiddink, however having finally got their wish to see Hughes out, they have now ended up with Mancini and whilst he has a better track record than Hughes, he isn't in the same mould as Mourinho when it comes to trophies. So when I compare a likeness to Hughes and Mancini, it is purely from the point of view that they are up and coming managers and not the world class manager people kept on barking on that they wanted. On that basis then it has the potential to leave egg on the outers faces, based ont he fact he knows nothing about English football other than an end of season stint at Leicester! I never wanted Mourinho or Hiddink as I thought Hughes should have been given time, but at least they had knowlewdge of the league.
