"The Yaya Toure Conundrum"

What is oft overlooked is his passing range. Look at Saturday and the ball from a DM position to Nasri. Look at his short pass that put Nasri in again later.

His demeanour or gait what you will is languid, it looks carefree and he looks clumsy at times. If i was his manager i would tell him i dont want to see his energy expended defensively unless absolutly neccessary. We have others for that.

Our team is built around Yaya and what he offers. He is the heartbeat, he is the player every other team in the PL would have tomorrow as he is the one player in the PL who improve every team in the PL.

Yaya for me is the best player we have had since Bell, he may even pass Bell and for me who grew up worshiping the King that is a profound statement indeed

The pass to Nasri for the opening goal at Newcastle was like a quarterback

I'm not sure he's better than Silva though. Both great players. if Silva can add goals to his game he will be close to Messi and Ronaldo. His performance against Man Utd and Real Madrid was very very good. best player on our side in both those games

Spot on Rasc. I've seen lots of "could be's" and "nearly were's" over the years, but Ya Ya is the real deal. There's not been a better or more powerful player at City since the King.

Ya Ya is very easily the best player in the EPL and has been since he arrived at City.

Easily.

"Now, this could be something of a problem given the number of fit midfielders we currently have in the squad, so I, unfortunately, have to talk hypothetically for the time being."

Are you "sportsmail reporter" Does hypothetically mean bollocks?<br /><br />-- Mon Dec 17, 2012 11:54 pm --<br /><br />"I’ve come to the conclusion that, should I have been put in Roberto Mancini’s shoes and asked to manage the team, I would seriously consider dropping Yaya Toure."

NDJ is missing! End of! 50/50 split on Nigel I admit, and some people will say "he's gone, get over it" but he brought out the best out of Yaya and Silva IMO, and the back 4 were much more confident!

NDJ was not a regular last season! Started 10-11 games in the PL and he´s gone.(tired of peopel brining up NDJ like he´s the answer to all our problems)<br /><br />-- Tue Dec 18, 2012 5:18 am --<br /><br />

He goes to ACON right before the rety hard Arsenal-City fixture we will miss him in that match surely. Cazorla/Arteta/Wishere vs. the slow Barry, Garcia maybe Milner
Can see Mancini going for the draw only for that reason. What used tobe the case in the Emirates for Mancini.

I'll probably get shot down but here goes.

I don't get the whole thing about missing players for the AFCON. Every season players are mising due to injury, suspension etc, for 5, 6 or more games.

Worst case scenario these are the games he would miss:

13 January A Arsenal PL

19 January H Fulham PL

29 January A QPR PL

03 February H Liverpool PL

09 February A Southampton PL

There is the cup game against Watford but I've not included that as I wouldn't expect him to play in it. Of those 5 games does any of them fill you will dread with our squad? Even without Yaya I would expect wins against Fulham, QPR and Southampton and draws out of the other 2.

The only concern for me would be the Chelsea game on 24th Feb and that he might not have enough time to recover.

Maybe I'm an optomist but it might give us opportunity to look at at other formations as well.

*puts on tin hat*

Arsenal away and Liverpool at home won't be a walk in the park without Yaya in the pitch, i garrantee you that ...

would have been had we bought dembele like I said in the summer................

what you fail to mention is that we did not miss Nigel in the first half of last season because we were passing and attacking other teams off the park; second half of the season he had a much bigger part to play when we were not playing quite as well as we had been - matches such as Newcastle away Nigel played a huge part. He has gone, I am over it, but please do not undertstate what Nige did for us, including a role in goals 2 and 3 against qpr

I Agree I grew up worshiping Bell, but Yaya is every bit as good in the modern game, I hope he surpasses Bell's trophy haul.
