There's something in this.

Ireland, Petrov, Benjani have all made comments about the state of play behind the scene and how players are money motivated, how there's no trust / stability anymore etc.

I know they're probably bitter about leaving such a fantastic club who are on the brink of success and not being paid as much at Villa, Bolton & Rovers but surely there is no smoke without fire?

The other thing that causes me confusion is that surely if this is the case, why did the club not insert confidentiality clauses upon their departure and pay them to shut the hell up? It does the club no favours when they blag to the press and add fuel to the fire for them to slag us off.

Thoughts?
There's nothing in this. Players who've had their noses put out of joint by being deservedly dropped down the pecking order - in Benjani's case, well down - are bound to have a moan about 'loyalty'. Of course, most players want to be picked to play, but the better players that have come in have meant the likes of Petrov, Ireland and Benjani just weren't going to be regulars in the team. Let them moan, it's not going to change anything though.

Whatever it was that motivated the likes of Benjani just wasn't good enough for us.

Give me a money hungry player that actually performs any day of the week.

All 3 were left in the cold cause they were never going to be part of the "Project" which each individual knew off.......so to be not good enough hence given a one-way-ticket to lesser teams, lesser wages I think is just sour grapes.....good ridance to all... we have a project to work on.Bye bye for now

You can't just dismiss all this as sour grapes.

I hope all the bloodletting is over and we now concentrate on getting morale and team spirit up amongst our squad.

there's a load of bollocks in this thread about Bellamy's situation. First of all he hasn't been diplomatic about City, he was quoted in the press long before his move and most of us agreed that he'd finally reverted to type and needed to be moved out. It was only 3 weeks ago he was quoted as saying “I haven’t spoken to the manager since February. There are a number of players, like Carlos Tevez and me, who he doesn’t speak to and keeps us away. I’m not sure if it’s personal. Maybe it’s the way he deals with things and it’s his manner. But I’ve got a fair indication of what they all think, though, as I’ve had 80 minutes in pre-season. I’ve even seen players not part of the club over the last three years get more minutes than me.”
The fact that he didn't slag off the club once he got his move is purely down to gratitude (to Marwood and Cook) that we are paying the bulk of his wages.
And does anyone really think that his wages could be threatened if he says something unfavourable? He's got a contract and a loan deal, we can't simply decide to dock his wages.
