More blues popping up in Ireland where I live, seen 4 shirts in the past week saw none in the previous 7 years.

I got accused of being a glory supporter when my baby had his City shirt on in town the other day. I just laughed and walked on. Being called a plastic by a Irish Utd fan is hilarious.

Mate not being smart but have u considered the reason is we've decent kit these days?
I'm a dub supporting over 20 years and you wouldn't have caught me dead in the shite reebok and le coq sportif put out!

Most fans are loving the umbro gear and it's fashionable enough to wear down the street!

Stadium - No. Only thing I've noticed is an increase in tourists.
I don't consider them gloryseekers, they just seem to enjoy the entertainment, never to see them again.

Where I live (Bury) - A big increase in the number of people wearing shirts.
These could be former fans who stopped going to games/lost interest, and the takeover has brought them back?

Online - I remember joining the Facebook page a few years back, average of 10 posts an hour or something, generally british posters, local people, thats about it. maybe 60,000?
Now The Facebook page has 946,407 fans.
it seems to me many people are followers of players.
So Bosnian army follow Dzeko, and cheer for us because Dzeko plays for us.
Same with Aguero,and Silva.
Very popular in their homeland.

I consider myself a "Glory Hunter" but my definition is somewhat different.
I've wanted success for my club for a long time.... Why?
it's more deep routed than just a game of football.
I enjoyed growing up watching city, win or lose it didn't matter to me.
as I've got older though Winning has become more important.

Do I have issues with people with no geographical/historical connection to the club whatsoever supporting City?
No, as long as my seat is still affordable and I am not priced out of the club by some Korean tourist who'll happily pay £100 per game.

I find it funny when away supporters have sang about being gloryseekers, makes me laugh.

One a lad I know on facebook. Went to school with him so I know that he hated football but still told others he was a rag.
Now his profile is all "CTID" and "Fuck The Rag Scum".

I've also seem two youngsters with City shirts where I live. Given that everyone round here is a Blackburn fan (although of course you get the odd rag) it's a little strange.

Then there is me. I myself did not watch the footie between the year 2000 and Sven coming onboard. I was just sick of the tribal aspect of the game, the name calling etc. It's only a fucking game. You pick a team as a kid and live with it. Still watched the derbies mind. That's why I've never bothered going to matches.

Great post, that. The 'typical City' label has diminished in charm, at least as far as I'm concerned, over the years.
