They played for City and United

Cole at City is an absolute memory block for me. I've seen pictures and videos, and was going to games fairly often then, but I'm always surprised by it when someone reminds me and can never remember a single thing about it. I'm convinced the world is playing tricks on me.
Remember him playing in a 3:1 win for us at COMS (as it was then) against the Rags. If memory serves me right Ronaldo got sent off that day for a pretty' dodgy' tackle on him?

A long time before WW2 obvs, but Sandy Turnbull went to the rags at the same time as Billy Meredith, along with two other City players whose names escape me. We’d been forced to sell after Meredith was accused of skulduggery. It’s a story I like to remember as a useful ‘no history’ comeback - that they only won their first title after they bought four of ours. Meredith in particular was pivotal for them.
Burgess and bannister. Sandy,s son Ronnie lived in bandit country and was a blue

Terry Cooke, for us at the time a fantastic signing, gave me as one some belief, that we might just....
things seemed to get better when we got him. Can't remember what happened to him, however I remember feeling he should have had a chance to adapt to the higher level we got to play at.

I was just idly thinking of those who played for us and the rags.
The first most notable chap was of course the great Billy Meredith. But of those since WW2, I came up with:

D Law
B Kidd
J Gidman
A Kanchelskis
S McIlroy
P Schmeichel
P Beardsley (just one League Cup match for Utd)
P Barnes
W(yn) Davies
C Tevez

There are two others who came to us from OT: Tony Whelan and Peter Bodak, but Whelan played only friendlies for United's first team on tour, and Bodak played no games at all for the rags. (They were both rubbish)

That's quite a lot, but I have probably forgotten someone. First-team appearances only.
Owen Hargreaves?

Beauty of a goal he scored. Was it in the cup?

He nearly got a late winner at OT in the away fixture too. Great save by Van Der Saar (their best goalie in my lifetime, IMO).

Cooke played well while on loan but as soon as he got a permanent deal I thought his form dipped quite a bit.
Cooke had a really strange career. He had a total of eight loan spells in all. Played a total of 37 games for us which is the most he played for any team before he left for America in 2005.
