How can you reconcile the view that guns save lives when 30,000 are killed by guns each year when compared with Europe, with the same populations?

How can you believe it makes you safe when the figures show that owning a gun means you're more likely to accidentally kill yourself or your family members than an intruder?

Why haven't you conceded you're actually more likely to get burgled in Texas than UK, the opposite of what you stated?

Quite, its pointless arguing with him as he has made his mind up that guns are good to have, maybe he thinks the UK should aquire as many guns per capita as the USA ? coming up with an argument about cars killing more people than guns is childish, people need cars to get to work/shops/doctors/bank/school/sports training/private tuition etc etc Im a musician and need a car to get to gigs otherwise I cant do my job. I dont need a gun, nobody does,(ok maybe a farmer) since guns were banned after the Port Arthur massacre here in Oz (1996) there have been no mass shootings, what does that tell you.
America has thousands of dead people every year, killed by guns, a lot of them are children, countries with strict gun control have a tiny percentage of what America has, any nutter or Ice addict in America can get a gun for $200 or so, if not legally then in a dodgy bar or someplace where crooks hang out, then he can then during one of his angry or delirious episodes kill a few people very easily......the plain facts are there, the easier it is to get a gun, the more gun deaths there will be.

Anti venom is something designed to save lives, guns are things designed to kill. Anti venom can kill but it is certainly not designed for it. Guns can save lives but only by killing it having the threat to kill the very thing they were designed for.

As far as I'm aware based on not being a buff on this guns and gunpowder originated in the Far East and earliest writings or paintings show something designed to kill!

I have a bunch of guns and love them, however I am aware that they're best utilized for killing shit. Target shooting is just so you don't miss your oppurtunity of shooting a deer or elk when the chance presents itself and with the season so short those oppurtunities can be few and far between

Nonsense. They are strictly designed for self defense. I personally have successfully defend myself against some ferocious ducks and baby harp seals in the past.

Go hunting with a mate who insists on bringing a 45 pistol with him in case of a griz attack, I told him to file the front site off. He seemed puzzled but told him he would be better off when the bear takes it off him and shoves it up his ass

My .357 is used mainly as insurance against bears. Run up on a grizzly with cubs and she will eat you. Cougars are bad too.

Other than that, it's for target practice.
