i always had a sneaky warmth for the jam.....

i was an OI skin back in the days, rather than the usual nutty boy skin

it was ok for nutty boy skins to like the jam as they were part of the movement and after all the skinheads developed from a lot of the old scooter clubs....i mean FFS, we even pinched the fish tail parka style from the mods

however, as an OI skin (punk) it was always frowned upon to be associated with the likes of the jam, etc

so for me, i kept my record collection very much under wraps and away from my exploited, crass and SHAM 69 collections

Quite apt that they always played that at the swamp before games. A song by a gang of cockneys

You work and work and work till you die, cos theres plenty more fish in the sea to fry.

Smithers Jones (Foxton's song admittedly but Weller's voice gave it the punch)

I glanced back at my life,I thought about my wife
'cos they took the keys and she'll think its me
and im down in a tubestation at midnight
the wine will be flat and the curry's gone cold...

genius.

Ditto ... when I'm angry I usually put a Jam CD on and find some housework to do!! sounds daft but the lyrics make me sing out loud to it (whilst I'm cleaning like a woman demented) .and eventually I've calmed down by the end of it ... think its a girl thing ?? or not and just me !!
