Thiago Alcantara

Juve turned away City, Bayern and Real Madrid interest for Vidal according to Sky Italy. There were offers of £30million+ but quite simply they won't sell, nor should they. He's the most complete midfielder around. Fernandinho will offer similar qualities, not as good but one of the best alternatives we could have bought.

I have no idea who we will have come 1st September when we have to submit our 25 man squad to prem league for next season but in my opinion 99.999999999% certain Barry will be included. My understanding of this summers transfer window is to strengthen the squad we have not rip it apart. I do no agree with those saying there will be wholesale departures, again, I believe if we sign the six players on the so called Pellegrini list, only two players will have to make way to accomodate them. One is likely to be a striker the other is down purely to who Pellegrini thinks is up to the task. As for the merits of Barry and our team I have no problem whatsoever in Barry starting any prem league game, my reservations about him are all to do with CL games. Alcantara is a classy, young and extremely talented midfield player who will only get better and better and all for the crazy price of 15m. For me this transfer is an absolute no brainer, in fact I would prefer this signing over Cavani. How we play the new midfield players and keep them all happy and content is not my problem, that is down to the coach, who has been appointed because of his man management skills.

I agree Alcantarra is quality. Barry has done a decent job in the League, but has been found wanting in the Champions league. Personally I would love Barry to stay as back up to a quicker holding midfielder.

Still not able to do links but apparently Sport in Brcelona are saying united have got Thiago also that his brother Rafinha is off to Celta Vigo (not that anyone care). Very disappointing if true, though we don't seem to have been linked to him anywhere but here.

We have. For example, Sport linked us with him last week.

I am 90% certain that he will stay at Barcelona.

Me too, I don't think Barcelona would need to work very hard to convince him to stay if they see him as Xavi's replacement, and he'll be 34 this year.

agree, aswell why would they sell him. I think if he does leave it will be reluctantly.

I don't know. If Barca really wanted him they would have made sure to get him his playing time last season. They were winning La Liga by a mile. Are the that short sighted that they didn't see the release clause sneaking up on them. The only thing they can do to convince him to stay is to renegotiate his contract. That is a pretty expensive screwup on their part....I just don't understand the thinking that they would purposely allow his clause to drop to 18 million forcing them to pay him more.

I did have a feeling he would end up at the scum, he would play every week and in all honesty he is a good young replacement for Scholes.

Him and Carrick could create a good partnership.
