I respect your views mate but I dissagree, if we get Isco and now have Navas I would suggest that Nasri will go along with Sinclair (if we can offload him). If Thiago came in Garcia and Barry could be sold. We would actually have less players and still be stronger

Fair enough. But it's not just a question of let's sell Barry, Sinclair, Nasri and Garcia is it. Once they are here they are harder to shift. That would be on top of Tevez Dzeko Kolarov possibly Lescott and Kolo has gone. Wide scale changes that could be too much at once.

Also I might be wrong but Lescott might want to go as he wants a World Cup spot, sell Barry and Sinclair and we might be stuck for homegrown players.

homegrown term makes me laugh, in a few years (probably more) we'll have a team of homegrown players majority of which wont be english. Sorry not the right thread just made me chuckle.

I suppose being a worse team so that those we do have will be happy is an option.

You have to have a balanced squad don't you think? When Dzeko wasn't playing he looked disinterested once his sub goals didnt result in a regular spot hence why most want rid. If we are playing one up front we need another top striker and a hungry Guidetti.

As I said it is impossible to have a surplus of top players which is exactly why Thaigo wants to leave Barca. Especially in a World Cup year where Thaigo Navas And Isco will fancy staking a claim.

-- Fri Jun 21, 2013 12:28 am --

That's no good for next year though is it? There are rules.

As I said, tough choices will have to be made. He's talented enough to force the issue.

I have no concerns about our homegrown players next year, some people on here may have forgotten/ignore it but im sure the powers that be are aware of it.

Looks like Rags got this one.. we'll see, not sure he'll fit there perfectly though it's good buy for young talented player if those 17m is real price.

Hi, United fan here IN PEACE! (yes there is such a thing)

Keep seeing lots of comments on here regarding our style and Thiago not fitting in, dont really understand why? I know its a team you all hate more than any other and wont ever be able to have an opinion that isnt heavily negative about the club but this idea that United is purely a kick and rush wingers team is laughably wrong, firstly we scored way more goals than any other team last season (you included) about 20 more i think it was, this when our wingers had their worst collective and individual seasons in years, Nani hardly played, Valencia had an horrific season and Young spent most of it injured and is largely shit anyway, combine their total assists and you get less than 12! so where did all our goals come from if they are all we play through? mainly Kagawa, Rooney, Van Persie and Carrick were our highest assist players, hardly kick and rush wingers last time i looked, more highly technical central players.

United have always used wingers, its part of our history, that dosnt mean every angle of our play goes through them, it dosnt, if it did wed have managed 12 league goals last season, as thats the amount our wingers assisted, if Thiago joins he'll likely play in this kind of set up:

Carrick - Thiago
Kagawa

Think and hope Rooney will be moved on, and those 3 excite me far more than any side with Rooney in it, throw Van Persie up top and the core of our side will be full of highly technical passing footballers, arguably the best set in the league if we can get Kagawa performing to his dortmund standard, Carrick having another season where he was clearly the leagues standout man in his role and Thiago being Thiago.

Yeah im sure im gonna get a fuck ton of abuse for this post but it would be nice if one of use could debate my points to? mainly if we're such an horrific kick and rush down the flanks team why were our highest assisting players all centrally positioned players? and how did we win the league so easily given our wingers all had shocking seasons whilst according to this forum being our only avenue of attack? something dosnt add up there.

Anyway sorry to take this slightly off track, really hoping we get Thiago, outstanding player, can see why barca fans are mortified at the prospect of losing him, every single one ive read would rather lose fabregas and see this guy as Xavis natural successor, high praise.

Indeed & that will probably be one of several reasons we don't go for Thiago.

In real life, there are squad restrictions & we need a certain number of players for each position, not ten attacking mids & two centre backs, & a certain number have to be home produced.

In chidren's fantasy football land otherwise known as the transfer forum, it doesn't matter, but in real life, it does.

im actually really gutted, even tho he hasn't signed yet for trafford we've missed out big time here and im feeling more and more that isco is sliding away as Zidane reals him in.
Pellegrini will sort it out. Don't worry.

Agreed ... if Zidane was a spanish great (like PV is to the French) I think he would have more pull. But if you put Zidane up against Pellegrini....I have to go with Pellegrini every time.

-- Thu Jun 20, 2013 11:52 pm --

Agree with this, Thiago is a very good player but Isco is going to become World Class

I am stunned by how little some rate Thiago on here. They BOTH will likely be World Class.
I rate him, mate. Depends how you define world class. I think Isco will become one of the top ten players in the world. Don't see that with Thiago. He'll be a very, very good player, just not one on a Xavi, Pirlo or Scholes level.

Fair enough...I do think with the right path Thiago could be top ten in the world in 4-5 years. If I had to choose I would take Isco because of his position, but if that was put aside....I would have a very hard time choosing between them.

Most of you won't have even heard of Thiago until his hat trick in the 21's championships.

That's pretty condescending. Barca had a 90 million buyout clause on this guy...its not as if he was an unknown quantity.

2 years from now...

Sandro Rosell: "Thiago has Barcelona DNA and we'd love to have him back some day..."

A year of tapping up follows...

1 year later, Thiago joins Barcelona for close to £40million.

This is my fear with Isco as well (but Madrid). Hopefully we can do what I honestly didn't think we would be able to do with Silva and Aguero and convince him that this club is worth staying with.
