I am aware that you are very well-versed with whatever's going on with Bayern, but you can't possibly be using a single instance of him 'rolling his eyes' as proof that he's sick of working with Pep. Sorry but unless Thiago stated it specifically, I'm not gonna put any weight on this argument. After Pep left Bayern a couple of players from Bayern started to talk about Pep in a somewhat negative way, most noticeably Ribery. Thiago could've said something or anything about Pep but I don't think he ever did.

Now whether Bayern decides to purchase James or not, that's a whole other instance (I believe they will). 42M for a player like James who has performed very well, I might add, is a bargain. You can't even buy Sigurdsson with that price. Bayern could make money just by purchasing him and selling him outright to United.
There are times I roll my eyes at Pep, doesn't mean I want him fired :)

My issue is not with whether we should get him or not. But rather I objected to the notion that "he did not kick on" meaning he did not get better or reach potential claim.

The fact that he made Budensilga team of the year, ESM team of the year and Fifapro 5th team of the year, the latter 2 being across Europe. Suggests he has more than 'kicked on''

As far as CMs go, he is pretty much around and about the best there is. So I found the "he hasn't kicked on" comment objectionable.

Fair enough. That turn of phrase wasn't me suggesting he wasn't good enough, just that for me he's at a similar level to what he was at during his Barca days. Now he was very very good back then and still is now, but there was an expectation that at 22 there was still ample improvement left in him and I don't think we've necessarily seen that and thats not a knock on him. Anyway, his ability isn't the issue here it's his fitness.

Oh - I am pretty sure that Thiago likes Pep, appreciates what he has done for him and would never talk anything bad. He played a big role for him. What I tried to tell you is that Thiago has grown out of that relationship, that his work for Bayern is extremely appreciated, that they for sure will not sell him and that I might see him going back to Barcelona in distant future - but not following Pep. He signed a new contract 3 years ago and did not care about where Pep goes - after some okay seasons with Pep he had a real great season without - and signed again a new contract until 2021 in April 2017. I do not really understand why anybody here thinks that he might be available or why he should want to got to Manchester City. Pep is not an argument for that. I can understand "home" especially as he has still tight relationships to Barcelona - the club and the city - and with Iniesta and Xavi (soon) gone, there for sure would be a place for him. But as he signed a new contract a year ago he does not even want to do that soon.

Following Pep in 2013 was something different. Pep got him his promotion from second to first team and gave him playing time. With the two coaches that followed his career was stuck. We would not have gotten him that cheap if he did not have a clause that reduced his transfer sum based on not enough playing time. He could have left to somewhere else - but Pep then for him was the secure track. He does not need that anymore.

There is not really a player that was better with Ancelotti than with Pep. Apart from Thiago. He enjoyed the more freedom and less rules he had.

True.... I don’t know where this rumour stems from, Bayern simply don’t let players leave unless they want them to.

Don't people always say that Bayern won't stand in the way of a player who wants to leave?

Who told you that? That must be really special cases like e.g. with Pepe Reina who wanted to be first goalkeeper again, somebody at the end of his career, some special personal reasons that would be a hardship etc. If you are somebody that can be easily replaced or that would not get much match time there for sure are ways - but not for one of the best players Bayern has that just is not.

That is just not the case here. But, tell me one reason why Thiago should want to go from Bayern to City? He does not get playtime and thinks he can restore his career with Pep is not the case here... Better chances to play? - with Silva, Gündogan, KdB there is even 3 players that fill out similar roles. He wants a future in the EPL? - and that he did not know a year ago when he made a new contract? The weather?

Every new day one of this "so called journalists" seems to throw the dice somewhere in their dark cellar before he throws in a new rumour without any substance. Don Ballon had Thiago and Müller and Alaba (and always Lewandowski) at Real somewhen in the recent weeks... Some of this rumours have substance like e.g. that Vidal might leave Bayern after this season or that Bernat might go. Yes, Lewy probably wants to Real but that does not mean that he will get that transfer especially not as it would cost Real a real fortune.

Thiago to City is just very much down on the scale of transfer probabilities.

Emre Can is available - why don't you go for him. You might get somebody of Dortmund - they seem to get rid of some players...

Honestly I think I mixed you guys up with Juventus. Pretty sure they have a policy of selling if a player asks for it.

Tolisso is a b2b-player - as is Goretzka. Thiago was injured - it was great that James converted from a 10 into an 8 during that time. But James is still on loan until end of next season - a lot can happen. And a good ball possession team needs atleast 2 of this kind of players. Before James came it looked pretty dire when Thiago did not play.

Thiago and Pep - yes - pupil and teacher. But - Thiago is the one of the Bayern players that seems to have lived up the most since Pep left. Pep wanted what I call the spanish side of him - the steady passer - but tried to teach the brazilian side (the risky side and showboating) out of him. If there is players that were tired of Pep after 3 years (Thiago had more because of his time at Barcelona) - Thiago was the first one you could mention. I remember him just rolling his eyes at minute 60 of one of Pep's last Bundesliga matches - Bayern was in comfortable lead - when Pep called him to the side lines with a bunch of instructions - probably correcting the distances of the midfield players by a feet or two.

I do not know how long Thiago will stay in Munich - but if he leaves he probably will head to Barcelona and not to play under Pep again. Yes, he needed Pep to give him his first chances at Barcelona - and later to help him back into track after he did not play much in Barcelona - but there is no need now. He has emanzipated himself from a coach.

Oh - and I forgot - Bayern does not sell players with contracts that do not run out - only bench players that they do not need. But Bayern needs Thiago.

Need some facts not guesswork.
