Thiago is really, really good when healthy, and at that price it barely even matters if he isn't. We couldn't have done it without moving Gundo, but this is a great signing for them.

Gundogan is an excellent midfielder, just not very fast. He and Thiago are very similar. I think it’s more fair to compare Thiago/Gundogan than Thiago/De Bruyne.

I don’t see that as too many, 3 positions, 7 players seems about right. Fabinho is going to be their 4th choice cb option when called upon, Milner is 56 and will fill in wherever and the ox will get games in the front 3 if he’s fit. Weirdly their midfield is the most stacked in their squad yet it’s the one area they completely bypass in possession.
