I know someone who is struggling with her 16yr old son who she thinks has Autism and other gender problems and threatening suicide. Desperately trying to get an appointment to have him assessed and had to pull strings to even get him on a list Lockdowns haven’t done any of our young people any favoursAutism and idiopathic scoliosis. My son has both. He's 16 and this should be a great if not memorable part of his life. Been 18 months since scoliosis was diagnosed and his first consultant moved jobs before seeing him. This second one has so far not been in the hospital.in the day I went with him.for his mèeting and assessment/ plan of action. Then last week cancelled the rescheduled appointment. I have a mobile number for his appointed nurse and I tried to call to ask what's going on, no answer. Sent her a text voicing my concerns he's being overlooked and forgotten about... no reply. Poor lad. I also don't really have a fucking clue how to get the hospital to move this along, I was told corrective surgery is the only option in this case as the curve developed quite rapidly... that was over a year ago..
His mother works in NHS management They were here earlier he passed all his GCSE and going on for A levels again a lot of stress. She told me you have to speak with the doctors secretary (they all have one) or practise manager to say your not happy waiting all this time and see if you can get him seen earlier.
