@jrb, never despair sunshine. If you are known to be a Blue there will be Blues there willing to help you out I am 100% sure. I've never had money problems on my Euro trips but have had other probs and there was always a Blue to help.

Can't you draw cash out of the bank using your credit card?

Never done it myself, but I'm pretty sure you can. And then just claim any transaction costs back from Halifax.

Normally you can but you get charged interest straight away and it hammers your credit rating as they assume you are "desperate for cash".
