Third Kit

Nike kits are all based on templates.

The 3rd kit will be based on the 'Nike Striker III Game' template. The 'base template' shirts retail at around £11, so hard to justify what the over £49 covers?

Cheers mate

So you mean every team they supply gets a template?

Just to point out most of our Umbro kits were old England team Templates and our first season offerings became standard templates after. Someone on here did something to show everyone.#
Incipiently I haven't liked a kit since Umbro's first offering really

they've given us a template they use for loads of other teams and added a stripe.

Tell me what's beautiful and remarkable about that.

What template is it of, as in what teams are using it?

I want just on about this kit more your relentless pursuit of the Nike kits. Making surveys and so on. They pay the club £12 million + a year. Nobody has to buy them and it doesn't effect the club if people do or dont especially abroad where everyone just buy snides anyway.
How can you tell its just a template until you have seen the official picture any how?

I think we're all working under the presumption that that will be the 3rd kit, certainly based on the similar leaks for the home and away it seems reasonable to make that presumption.

The template is this one:

No, every manufacturer creates a set of base template kits for a season then tweak them for each club. Helps with mass production. Not just Nike guilty of this, Adidas (this season Bayern and Chelsea kits of note) Umbro (old City and England Kits). But sometimes the "base template kits" are are available to buy for 'custom' teams (pub teams etc).

personally, instead of paying £60 for a team replica, I'd rather get the bits for this, put them together myself (or the wife, she's good at ironing) for £20 and have something unique and that I like better....

JMW, cheers for showing us that. Are you sure we would just get a template though it seems very not in keeping with the top teams. Adidas kits aside

For the 3rd kit we are but they've just edited it a little bit to make it a bit different. The home and away I don't think are previously used templates but I expect they will be used again for the lower league teams next season i.e. I'd be surprised if say the away kit wasn't Blackburn's template next season.

My argument would be Nike could design kits for us that they could then use as templates for other teams, but design the original template around what City fans want, instead of just creating generic templates and they putting our kits onto them.

Nike top teams get different kits made for them each season, as opposed to Adidas who for several years used the previous season's Madrid home kit as the template for that season's Chelsea and Bayern home kits. However Adidas tend to make higher quality products and bar their extreme laziness this summer have produced much nicer original kits than Nike in recent years.

That being said the more competition between the two the more receptive Nike will hopefully be to changing it up a little bit to give themselves an edge.

-- Aug 23rd, '13, 13:36 --

never heard of them ... but if they are cheap stuff that are way overpriced then a lot of City fans must be wear them lol

Has anyone got one of the 3rd kit shirts yet? What is the quality like?

I ordered one some weeks ago from Xiaoying Deng on AliExpress. It hasn't arrived and is no longer offered by that seller. I've asked for a full refund. I see that several sellers are listing the shirt but, after one good experience and one bad experience of home shirt quality, I'm wary of ordering again until I've an idea about what I'm likely to get.
