This Cesspit of a City

Manchester is a disgrace to the eye is a huge overreaction!

It has problems in certain areas and needs a good clean , I think we all agree on that. Some of the City centre looks amazing and has a real big city vibe about it. 42 cranes, and thousands of new jobs, especially in digital being created recently. The City is on the up and I’m in a privileged position to see that.

I think you're right, but the part that is a disgrace is Piccadilly Gardens. Now that is an eyesore. It used to be a gorgeous place to sit and watch the world go by, eat your dinner. Now it's bloody awful. Get it back to something like it was.

exactly..it's our fucking shithole

At least we have colour tellys, inside toilets, double glazing and central heating unlike Stoke.

Oh yeah and it's home to Manchester City.....and many of its supporters too...so fuck off

Absolutely. I used to enjoy coming into town with my mum. It was a pleasant experience in a pleasant environment. I lived in the city centre for ten years. Loved it. It was genteel, well kept and worthy of a visit. It's a fucking tip now. Walk from Piccadilly train station, through the "gardens" and down Market Street. An absolute shit tip. Filthy. I wouldn't dream of taking my kids there.

That’s completely OTT.

Agreed, pathetic comment by @tolmie's hairdoo
The city centre was a damn sight worse in the 80’s 90’s and 90’s. Been in it today and apart from the weather being the same it’s better than its ever been, it’s manchester and a vibrant inner city ffs ! What are people expecting? Go visit Paris or Rome not much different, never mind London!!

I’m no big fan of Manchester (hate red brick) but I’d say it’s still my favourite city in the UK after London. I’m an architecture ‘fan’ and MCR retains a lot despite the massive redevelopment going on. Not forgetting the two rather large football clubs/stadiums you have!
It’s got/had scenes and atmosphere that make any other city seem provincial in comparison. Should be our second city (which it’s well on its way to be).

I think Manchester already has taken that mantle, although the amount of investment into Birmingham at the moment is crazy. HS2 is going to be a game-changer for Birmingham imo.

I work in Birmingham. It's a traffic disaster and repellent in so many other ways. Brummies though, decent lot IMHO.

I was in London last week for a 2 day look around and the begging is off the scale. So sad. The tube is still incredible. It's ridiculously expensive though, eating, drinking, etc.

Agree Piccadilly area is the worst part by a mile. But many rose (or blue) tinted specs if you can't recall how by the late 70's early 80's, the 'Gardens' were pretty dire and dodgy to be in by nightfall. As was the old bus station and Plaza front too. It's been a problem area for decades.

Whether somewhere is a shithole or disgrace is relative.

What I would say is Mcr has definitely gone downhill.

The homeless / spice problem in the centre is diabolical.

Just been on look north west. Bunch of cunts, though those just stood watching aren’t much better, if they knew people wouldn’t stand idly by they wouldn’t do half this shit, spineless bastards. Fucking help him!!

Why help the poor sod when you can film it and put it on YouTube. I am just shocked the zombies bothered to look up from their phones to even see what was happening.

We’ve got lots of cranes though. Sadly, not enough to lift the amount of shite that fills our city centre.

You have said that already and no one responded so I will ask. What has increased building work in the city got to do with a couple of low life twats stealing a bike?

Did these twats just take a leisurely stroll home afterwards ?
You’d have thought with all the CCTV about the vermin would have been nicked.
Not that it would have made much difference as they would have only been given a slap on the wrist!
I’d take the bastards arms off with a machete and they wouldn’t do it again.
Fucking scum of the earth!

I think his post has more relevance than yours, I am not sure what point you are making. He is saying we have a lot of cranes but also a lot of Shiite on the streets.

You seem to be suggesting the city is a garden of roses and this is a one off.

In broad daylight , next to the central library , a violent attack

If you think the city is in a good state you should travel more because it isn’t .
