So is Liverpool but at the risk of abuse the city is much cleaner than Manchester and the police there are regularly seen moving on the druggies that pass out in shop doorways. Here they will walk past them because it is so much out of control. Piccadilly Gardens is the pits. Not just the people who hang about there but the grassed areas are unkempt and the disgraceful concrete wall is, well disgraceful.
Manchester has so much investment at the moment but it looks dirtier every time I go in and I am there three times a week for work and socialise every weekend.
Liverpool city centre when you walked out of lime.st to the.left was awful for years, now they are sorting it out.
Unfortunately our entrance from dilly down picadilly aproach into the gardens is scruffy and so makes your first experience on arrival a dire one.
If you go down their main shopping area it's as bad as market street.
Tidy up the gardens and surrounding area and the city would look a lot cleaner

Aunty who lives in Bedfordshire, been up to Manchester last two days for the Spice Girl concert. Went shopping in the city centre yesterday and for a meal, around 4pm - 7pm. Said she’s never seen a scruffy looking city and felt intimated all the time especially on the trams.
She’s quite a tough women so god knows what impression our city gives to others.
Isn’t Luton in Bedfordshire?

I used to shop in Liverpool. It was a bit easier to get around than Market Street on a Saturday. Bold Street had some great independent shops.

I’ve taken some of these issues up many times with the cretinous Pat Kearney AKA -“city centre spokesman” (according to the M.E.N anyway). If people keep blindly voting for the complacent Labour Party we’ll get more of the same. We’ve got Leese selling our heritage down the river to the richest foreign despot and it trickles down from the top!

Difference with liverpool, which I do like as a city to visit and drink in and Manchester is that liverpool seeems more spaced out to me, where town seems cramped, both place you can get from one side to the other in 15-20 mins walking but the dock, baltic quarter, georgian qtr all seem spacious when walking to where top end of gret ancouta street to spiningfields and deansgate seems like a very busy crowded walk.
I think that makes our city look more untidy.
Though I must say it does stink of piss at 5am some mornings
And that wanker leese has shafted our historic buildings at times

It’s the late 90’s / early 00’s scally culture I hated. They were just horrendous hate machines and proud of their own laziness, ignorance and spite. I knew some truly, truly awful people.

I work on King St.
From Piccadilly to my work is about a 10 min walk and on average I get asked for change about 4 times I reckon, during that walk.
