They’re scum most of them. Burnham and his headline grabbing pals try to fetishise the homeless like they’re all great people who’ve fallen on hard times but I’m not having a BAR of it. Most are thieving, violent smack heads. One asked me for change outside of Greggs one day I said I didn’t have any (I didn’t) instead I bought him a brew and a sausage roll. He looked like I’d shit on his feet when I handed it to him- he just wanted money to get off his box. Don’t give to them EVER now.
 
Spent the night in Market Harborough last night and stayed over. Apart from one old skool wino only saw one seemingly homeless person, who was begging.

Can’t be many towns of that size left that are like that. It’s fucking everywhere. High Wycombe and Brighton in recent months especially spring to the front of my mind.

Lots of reasons, some down to resources, others down to societal changes.

Either way, not good.

High Wycombe is indeed bad. Had to go there recently. I asked a colleague there why it was so bad in such a 'posh' county. It's not down to austerity (which is the biggest load of bollocks ever). He said most if not all are housed and are on benefits. It's their habits that swallow up their income.

Another thing thing boils my p1ss is food banks. There was and is a negligible need for these things. You create them, people then use them. I've if you know you can get free food you can buy your iPhone or 150 inch flat screen in the knowledge youre in clover for nappies and pasta at the food bank. Biggest smokescreen ever

You obviously are not in town at the crack of dawn, plenty are genuinely homeless and abandoned by the state.

A lot ex service personel cast a side and people who should be being cared for because of mental health issues.

Of course we have profesional beggars, all cities have for centuries, and I see tge smae chancers in town every day, but it's quite sad that it is used to demonise those genuinely in need.

As for greggs, I have bought a couple of homeless people pasties in my time and a tea and had nothing but thanks off them.

I get to town most mornings at 7.35 and walk from either St. Peter’s square or market street tram to black sheep coffee shop at Spring gardens so I’m up pretty early. I know some are genuine but a lot are very aggressive and intimidating. I guess what I’m saying is I’ve had many more negative interactions than positive. Did you watch the undercover documentary a few weeks back?

No I haven't and I am in town about 6am., and have seen a few of the aggresive ones first thing arguing with thselves, bit most of these have addictions and possible mental health issues, they should be in care not on the streets.
I also see one bloke who comes into town every morning on the bus and buses it home about 4, fellas been doing it for years.

It is probably because I see the same ones everyday I know which are alright to interact with and which are a bit narky.
 
I chanced to be in Doncaster yesterday, and on the way back at Doncaster station I was asked for money twice by different (youngish) blokes. I'll say this for them, they were polite and not at all threatening.

There is definitely something wrong in this country and it want analysing and sorting. Either we have a crisis where a lot of people have diddly squat and have to ask strangers for money, or there are a load of crooked chancers, or it's a mixture of both. My guess is it's a mixture of both, that the genuine people want helping while the scrotes want incarcerating and a rehabilitation programme. However, it's my view anyone who thinks it's a simple problem that can easily be resolved hasn't really thought it through.

It’s not as bad as it was. I’d genuinely fear for my safety in a rock t-shirt and baggy jeans. I was attacked several times when I lived in Longsight.

Manchester is certainly less Manc now. Almost all of my old circle have left.
