This Incredible Squad

It's incredible what they continue to achieve at the club. Whether we win everything or nothing, their desire to keep challenging on all fronts is just insane. They could have been forgiven for putting their feet up this time, but they've still got that hunger. That's what makes them one of the greatest club sides ever. Through players leaving and new ones arriving the levels don't drop.

The dippers and tarquins might make the odd change in a game and it wins them the match, but they don't utilise their squad or trust them to win them games. We've gone through a tough period with Walker, Ederson, Stones and Ake all with niggles/injuries. We rested De Bruyne and Haaland and beat Villa. We rested Foden and Bernardo and beat Palace. We then drew at Real without De Bruyne, Walker, Ake and Ederson. And we rested Foden, Grealish, Stones, Bernardo and Rodri against Luton.

The squad players are coming in and showing they can do a job. Proving to Pep they can be used at this crucial period and enabling him to make changes.

We are in the moment of something very special in sport, even if our detractors try to play it down and spout their usual bitter shite , we know and deep down they know, we are just privildged to be witnessing it, this group are justi unbelievable led by a man who is a genius.
Even if we win nothing this season to be still competing on all fronts is unreal.
Savour every moment blues.

I fully agree with the posts in that thread. I have disagreed with pessimistic opinions of the squad and the season. We have a fantastic team.

But it's better to have such threads after we win things.

Real are dangerous (Ancelotti won once 4:0 with Real vs Pep, and the game was away...). Nothing is decided in the league. We play Chelsea 3 days after Real... Things can go wrong quickly as Liverpool and Arsenal have seen in the last week.

For me, even if things go wrong, the effort from the manager and the players has been incredible. But it's better to crown it with trophies.

Brillant post mate. I've noticed the exact same. We now have the X-Factor that the greatest teams of all had. They all looked beaten yesterday.
Speaking of the x factor, I think we have Simon Cowell at the helm whilst Liverpool have Sharon Osbourne and arsenal have Louis Walsh.

If we fail to win the PL or the CL, many fans will forget the effort and will criticise the new signings for not being at the required level and Pep/Txiki for failing to sign better players. Fans can be really fickle.

One game at a time.

Beat Real and see whether we can beat Chelsea next.

For many, you are as good as your last game. That's bonkers but media will have a field day if we lose from Real and Chelsea.

Spot on,too still be in contention for another possible treble after last season is absolutely unbelievable, but football is small margins we could win the lot again or win nothing, but the players and pep deserve huge credit to be still here in the mix,but you can bet one thing if we end up empty handed the media will jump on it and make it out to be a huge failure..

The key will be Wednesday. If we beat Real Madrid again it will provide momentum and energy for the rest of the season( as it did last year). The players have been incredible this season. We have missed Haaland, Stones, Kev, Grealish, and Walker for extended periods but Akanji, Ake, Rico, Foden, and others have been immense. After losing Gundo and Mahrez at the same time I didn't think it was possible.

The noticeable thing I’ve seen this weekend is what this City team does to other teams and their fan bases. Liverpool players were despondent at the final whistle yesterday, there’s only 2 points in it and there’s 6 games to play, elite athletes keep going until it’s mathematically impossible. After facing Pep for nearly 8 years the Liverpool players seem to believe there is an inevitability about the destination of the title.

Then you have Arsenal who have made some great strides in their quality this season and last. When they were two nil down to Villa all their fans vanished, there was no belief they could pull it back.

Then you look at midweek in Madrid, it was their big opportunity to put a marker down and at one point go two goals up in the tie. They couldn’t do it after chucking the kitchen sink at City. We can’t take a result for granted on Wednesday as Madrid are a very good side, however their players know they are going to have to beat City in their own back yard which no Madrid team has ever done, not to mention a team winning at City in Europe which hasn’t happened for nearly 6 years.

There is a lot of football to play and nothing is decided yet. Our players know that if they execute what Pep wants over the coming weeks they could be in contention for some big prizes. One game at a time and that starts with Madrid.
If you look at the salary bill which includes bonuses for winning trophies, the players are certainly playing for big prizes.

Liverpool nearly won the quadruple.
