Please understand most young people these days aren't as terrible as you are lead to believe, a good majority aren't these labelled 'scruffy' wasters.
These festivals are simply put on for profit. An event they are perfectly aware will end in a field full of fucking filth and mess, it's a weekend's holiday for young middle class adults, at their peak of rebellion, in an event full of social peer pressure; this will be the norm for most people exiting these events, leave everything.
Those who volunteer to clean up at the end get free entry and on-site facilities during the event.
The daily mail run stories like this to villainies people to get you to buy and read their 'stories'. They really are the butt-hole of news outlets.
I'm not defending these people, in fact I'm pretty cynical, I think the majority of people are dipshits. But you can't begin to label everyone of a certain age the same, it creates a divide and makes the whole villainisation of particular people even worse.
Sure it's a disgrace and tragic looking at all the fucking mess in the pictures, but it doesn't represent the 'yoof' of today.
Edit: I'd also like to throw in some of the quotes "Tractors towing magnets are used to collect metal tent pegs and other potentially dangerous metal objects, and volunteers will work with specialised rubbish-clearance teams eventually to return the field to its original state".
A comment from someone who has been and I can agree with: "And in regards to the rubbish there is like bin next to a pitch of around 200 people so even when you are putting rubbish in the bin you're only relocating it else where which then people decide to empty."
"shut up its a festival, its been happening for 40 years. Have some fun"
Bring back national service and flogging with a wet haddock.
