and why not ? I remember some muppet poster on here having a right go at me becasue he (the poster) insisted Liverpool v rags was a Derby and I put him right. If pisscan says it is it must be, after all he says battenberg aint racist.

It is derby, 2 English clubs with biggest fan base. That's always derby, no matter of table positions. Same with Liverpool vs Rags.

Juventus vs Inter Milan is called Derbi d'Italia even if they are on opposite sides of table.

The one additional reason though why they like to feature that "derby stuff" when they talk about Arsenal vs United or Liverpool vs United is a dig at City and Chelsea. They want to say "these are the proper derbies, teams with isstry" and not these new sugar daddy clubs..

Arsenal and Liverpool miss times when those matches were title deciders, and United miss times when they were regularly beating those two for titles. They don't like new Chelsea and City competition.

no...no it bloody isn't.

a derby is two teams that either play in the same city or close by to each other.

city v utd - derby
city v stockport - derby
city v macc- derby
city v oldham - derby
city v chelsea - just a big game
ushited v arse - just a big game (and an old rivalry).
chelsea v arsenal - derby.
