This Weekend's Other PL Matches (Dec 20-22)

Many of us expected Chelsea to drop points on a Monday-eve at Stoke with us equal on points. They didn't. In fact they were very professional and it'll take some doing to overtake them, let alone stay in front of them. Let's be patient first. I myself prefer the role of hunter rather than being hunted. Let's get out of the festivefixtures unscatched, than try and be in an even better position at the end of January. As it is now Chelsea probably deserves to be topping the table at X-mas, even if it doesn't mean sh*&e.

the form book says that 4/5 of the league leaders at Christmas have gone on to win the league

Good job that we care not for form or convention, our league wins of late would be living proof of that

We can do this

Fair play to Chelsea. They're a good team, and I never thought it would be easy to beat them.
Just wait till their injuries kick in, round about the time that we're getting everyone back.
The fat lady hasn't even started to put her make-up on yet.

^This... Take Hazard out of that team and it doesn't look half as rosy for our Maureen

I thought Stoke were dreadful last night and wasted so many balls it was untrue. They lacked any quality in both short and long passing and the "tall one" was a passenger all night. What this resulted in was Chelsea looking better than they actually are.

No doubt they are a good side, but they are not invincible and don't appear to have the depth of squad that will be needed if they are to win the league.

As many have said, they will pick up injuries at some point and it is then we will see whether they have the quality in depth. They will not win every game between now and May - nor will we, but we have something over and above them.

A long way to go. We just need to manage our oewn affairs and I'm sure Pellers will do this admirably.

Chelsea looked good last night, get the early goal then ride out any Stoke pressure. I thought Stoke were terrible in the final third, but equally Chelsea's defence was solid and stopped Stoke outside the area.

Some of the Stoke challenges were over the top and Chelsea did well to keep their discipline too. So to go to Stoke under a bit of pressure and silence the crowd early on, get the three points, and not concede shows that Chelsea are favourites for a good reason. What the press have underestimated is that City have played more away games already and we being out of the League Cup should also help us over the course of the season. If Chelsea get to the final then they will have a game in hand to fit in later in t he season, which will give them some fixture congestion. Chelsea look worse without Matic and/or Fabregas. These are the players who make Chelsea tick in midfield and create the goal scoring chances. If they can keep these two fit then they have every chance of taking the league title from us. City have to keep plugging away and winning games, keep the pressure on Chelsea and beat them at the Bridge.

-----------------Aguero

Hazard--Fabregas--Yaya--Silva

-------------------Fern

If only....

Whilst we're at it:

-------------------Aguero

--Hazard--Fabregas--Yaya--Silva

--------------------Matic

Kolarov---Terry---Kompany--Zabaleta

------------------Courtois

Would probably be the best PL team in history

on the money. Sjoke were dire.

Still a couple of tough aways to come for them in the next week and a bit. And you'd think they'll have quite a few playing their 4th game in 11 days after playing pretty much every game so far.

It'll catch up on them. We just need to hang in.

Would be even better with Clichy instead f Kolarov.
