I must be getting old. Very few things irritate me in life but this apparent new trend on this forum of writing "this" (alone), in rsponse to someone's post, is, in my view, an extremely lazy way of bumping up one's post count.

This forum is surely for reasonable debate, argument and statements of point of view rather than one word remarks like "this"?

And yes, I am aware of the origin of "this" as a statement.
