I must be getting old. Very few things irritate me in life but this apparent new trend on this forum of writing "this" (alone), in rsponse to someone's post, is, in my view, an extremely lazy way of bumping up one's post count.

This forum is surely for reasonable debate, argument and statements of point of view rather than one word remarks like "this"?

And yes, I am aware of the origin of "this" as a statement.

Ill bet you regret the demise of the fountain pen as well.

Fountain Pen?? He was livid when they became popular.

He was probably very sad at the demise of the quill and parchment, though....
