Thogden

There used to be two City guys with forums on youtube I used to follow..one was a guy who always wore Raybans and a slightly chubby guy with a beard..I believe they worked together but had a falling out..enjoyed their comments but seem to have disappeared. I liked them as they were true Blue and not completely professional like this guy Thogden, who in effect is an interloper out to make a few quid. I do love City Shirts and he was always at matches,on TV with his son and does brilliant interviews..But he is Blue through and through..I do find AFTV and The Flying Pig hilarious, but wish some Blue could match those earlier guys.
You get Primemutton on YouTube doing most games, and a few other bits and pieces too. He’s alright, I was next to him at an away earlier this season.

He’s more grown up than most YouTubers…

I'd add The Mancunian Way to that. His live on the Madrid debacle was decent. Not talking AFTV production values but an authentic voice for fans.

Sad thing is - I can see why these YT people do it.
There is a guy called Buvey who was on The Kickoff and is now on a thing called The Club.
He shot to ‘fame’ by doing a film yourself clip of Mahrez’ penalty at Anfield 2018.
What surprised me is that I had never seen him at any City away match. You see the same faces and I had never seen him. Have never seen him at any match since then, either (His opinions and lack of knowledge make me wonder if he is an actual City fan).
He has done quite well out of it though.

Look at Mark Goldbridge. Probably the most well known United fan in the world. Despite the fact his is a Forest fan

I am thinking about making a YouTube channel myself - not about city. You need 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time to be monetized. Some of the crap you see on YouTube with 1000s of views, such as this new auditing trend, makes you wonder if it is worth a go.

I'll join in with you mate,we can just spout shite on a screen instead of on here, well if it makes money.......................

This guy is not a commentator,a commentator is one that works for and paid by Sky,BT,ITV,we know where their allegencies lie,and it isn't with us
He still makes his living by attending games and reporting on them, just like a commentator would.
I'm not saying he should be there instead of a blue, but what he does is just a consequence of how the modern game, coupled with our success, has impacted the club. I'm sure there are plenty of other spectators at our games that don't have the same affiliation with City that many of us do but scapegoating this chap because he has a public profile and makes a bit of money from it seems a bit unfair to me. Like I have said, I'm jealous I didn't think to do it myself!

As you point out, traditional media come to our games and are coloured by their own bias and editorial guidelines that they are bound to follow. This chap, from what I gather, turns up and gives a flavour of the matchday experience without any predjudice. This type of content is clearly popular amongst certain demographics, otherwise he wouldn't be at the game. So if he is there and is helping to raise the profile and reputation of the club then fair enough.

If he's doing videos at our ground just to slag us off or take the piss then fine, nobody should be helping him get tickets.

I can see why Thogden irritates people because he's young and excitable and seems to be living the dream. But I'd agree with you that he's effectively a sports journalist - just one who works for himself with a core audience that's much younger than most other broadcasters.

Young kids want to know about the best games and the best atmospheres so he'll bring them our big games, Napoli games, the Yellow Wall etc. Yeah he doesn't rave about us - he seems to support every club and no club - but the videos he's done following our away support in Europe have been respectful imo.

In his way he's doing the sport a service because he's getting across the excitement of matchgoing to a young audience. In his line of work I'd imagine that if you have to pay over face value for a ticket you'll pay it, so, annoying as it is to just know he'll be at any game Blues have struggled to get tickets for, I keep an open mind over whether he's 'depriving' ordinary fans - someone is always going to pay silly third party prices sadly.

He's been working at it since a young age so fair play to him. I suspect it isn't as easy as it makes it look and as with all people who seem to have it all, you never really know how much they're making or what pressures they're under. When another YouTuber did a video alleging Thogden is 'most hated' after World Cup his dad (ex-Tory councillor from Alty) took it very badly according to reports. I've ended up being very au fait with it all as my youngest wouldn't dream of watching kids telly anymore and City Xtra, Thogden, AFTV, Vizeh etc are his TV bread and butter.
