Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to three women

Mendy was found not guilty, so maybe a bit soon to condemn the man.

And people think Arsenal controlled when he was charged? Isn't there a conspiracy theory thread somewhere?
Yep, he is innocent until proven guilty. You would think most here would have learnt that by now.

Mind you, you would think footballers would have learnt some lessons by now as well!

This has PISSED ME OFF

So his contract ended Monday and now the CPS finally announce he has been charged with rape.

This has been an open “secret” for years

But Arsenal get to be dissociated from it?!

I make no comment on the charge as await trail but the announcement of it is PROPER BENT

I guess the dodge hand shake brigade properly helped

He played for City whilst on bail after, he was first arrested and charged and remained under investigation
The CPS looked at the evidence gathered by the Police and decided to prosecute him, he would then be re-relased on bail
At some point he breached his bail was, this before he was charged or after Im not sure
City suspended him after he breached bail he was arrested and spent time in prison I think bail was refused at some point but subsequently he was released

Like I said he was allowed to play whilst on bail

Once he was charged the FA banned him.

Hilarious seeing all the Arsenal fans on social media trotting out ‘charged doesn’t mean guilty’

While this is of course correct, these are the same plebs constantly calling for us to be thrown out of the league before the result of our charges have been released. And they support a club who wrote a letter demanding we were thrown out of Europe because we had been CHARGED with breaching FFP regulations, which we were later cleared of

Consider me sceptical that Starmer intervened to prevent Partey being charged until after his contract was up.

Similar the CPS.

Whatever happened and the reasons for the decision and it's timing will come out eventually.
It’s all smoke and mirrors these days, sad state of affairs, Diddy do it, we may never know

Maybe not you. But that's the world we live in, totally obsessed with people's skin colour.
I am sad to have to agree. I mean wtf is that. A world where some women may have literally been raped (or may not as we simply dont know yet) and some people decided to zoom in on the colour of the hands of a stock photograph used in the media to describe the story. jesus christ. wtf is that. Anyway, lets all let the judicial system work it out.

I wonder if after seeing the Mendy case where most assumed it was a slam dunk case, the CPS wanted to ensure the Met Police did a better job and were more cautious.
Without sidetracking this thread, in my opinion the Mendy case was the opposite way around. The police did their job but the CPS went overboard and even political. They over charged. It was never a 'slam dunk case', some of the women who gave evidence should not have ever been considered as victims.
It was the same with the Ryan Giggs case, the CPS overcharged for political reasons. (Coercive behaviour)

I cannot think of any reason why this has taken so long to come to court. If he is guilty, what must those victims have felt waiting all that time ? By the same token, if he is innocent it is disgraceful that the police/cps were so slow in gathering evidence.

If guilty, I hope they strip Arsenal of every ill-gotten title

So if he’d been done at the time, Rodri wouldn’t have got injured and we’d have won 5 in a row?
No. When you go through the list of reasons offered on BM for last seasons failings, no player would ever pick that much slack up. Get your sentiment though.

I'm still fuming at this. Surely we had someone at the club do some investigating behind the scenes to check how likely it would be that he had done something wrong. And it seems there's stuff out there that indicates he's on a sticky wicket.

We should have, at that stage, not picked him. We could have still kept paying him so not in breach of contract but just not played him because, you know, some things are more important in life than winning fucking football matches.

Arteta is a husband and a father. He has his wife's initials tattooed on his ring finger and kisses those initials before every match to show he's thinking about her. Yet he'd surely have been told by club insiders that 'Mikel, it seems there's stuff out there that indicates that our DCM is a rapist scumbag. Or at least there's a decent possibility he is'. You know, like rapist scumbags who rape people's wives and daughters and ruin their lives. Yet it would appear the club have prioritised something else.

This will blow up massively. Firstly much of our fanbase is fuming. The players must also be thinking what the hell is going on and why have we been playing this guy and even trying to extend his contract seeing as someone internally must have had a good idea as to what was going on? And what kind of club even accepts this? And do they want to associate themselves with such a club?

I think Arteta needs to go now. And a full investigation internally as to what the club did and didn't know. Heck, the club celebrated our ladies side winning the Champions League. Yet we don't extend them the 'respect' of not playing someone who is under investigation for rape and, on the balance of probabilities is guilty of something. Maybe he's 'not guilty' in the same way as Mason Greenwood 'wasn't guilty' but that stinks and we should never accept that. This must not get brushed under the carpet.

I get your anger. We all like to think our clubs are run with integrity.
But honestly mate just a few examples that Arsenal aren't.
Tapping up Arteta in the early hours.
The letter.
Board member walking out of the posh seats without shaking hands with Khaldoon.

Honestly mate your club isn't the club you want it to be. I get that and to real fans it's hurts.

99% of City fans love our owner and the way the club is run. The club allowed David Silva as much time off as he wanted when his child was born. Even in a tight title race City put Silvas child, family before our chase of the title.
City did the right thing with Mendy in my eyes.

Would Arsenal do the same as City if one was in Silva family position ? It sounds like you would like to think so.
