Thoughts on the start to the season?

I think we've had tough games to start the season.

Last year we only got 3 points from the same fixtures:
Wolves (A) - Won
Spurs (H) - Lost
Brighton (A) - Lost
United (H) - Lost
Arsenal (A) - Lost

4 points gained on last season.
Plus a win v Napoli.

Happy enough with that, wish we had 2-3 more points but solid enough.

Next 5 league games feels like that's where our season starts:
Burnley (H)
Brentford (A)
Everton (H)
Villa (A)
Bournemouth (H)

Brighton and Spurs sting, but I feel like we were not ready. We are going in the right direction, though

My bad i misread.

I think we are getting there. We've not all bedded in with signings and players not being match fit but today we dug in and was unlucky.
We are starting to look like our old selves again, keep players fit and more games together with a settled 11 and we'll be in the mix.
 
There is currently a starting eleven and a second eleven. The next eight games have to see more of those in the second eleven force their way into the starting eleven, or it’s going to be a terribly long season.
 
Clear improvements last 3 games so I'm happy with that start especially with our injuries and lack of fitness.

Got to win all them.

Thought we were turd against Spurs and Brighton second half but been better since then but with lots of work to do.

Still think we look a bit light squad wise this season,
 
Today was the big test of what our season can be, lose and we were all down for a wishy washy win some lose some season, have to give mini pep a lot of credit for todays tactics, last season it would have been peps gung ho go for it and we would have got battered as we just don't have the players for it.
Moving on I'm more optimistic than I was before the game for the season, not sure we will have enough to win it, but we will get stronger
 
Personally pleased with our start, aside from the Brighton and Spurs games.

I think Donnarumma coming in has made a lot of the squad lift their heads and put their chests out and have some belief in themselves and each other.

That’s the rags and Arsenal games which we have done better in this season than we did last season. Look loads better and the mentality is miles above what it was last season too.
 
The last 3 games excellent. Brighton was diabolical. Spurs did a number on us.
Chance to kick on now with some decent fixtures and the players getting fitter
 
Top four nailed on, can't see us winning it though, we needed to win today I think.

We have lost as many games as we have won and is currently placed 9th, behind Sunderland and on the same points as Leeds, 8 points behind Liverpool after just 5 games. We dont need to pretend this start to the season has been anything but poor.

Comparing to last season feels pointless since its not exactly a good benchmark to judge if we are successful or not.
 
We're exactly the team most of the normal non-clapper fans thought we were.

However has anyone said "Can't believe people are judging this team after just 5 games"? (They can just copy this and replace the number until it says 38.)
