Threads 40 years on

The developing situation in Israel/Iran/Palestine these last 72 hours has uncomfortably reminded me rather a lot of the news broadcasts on the TVs and radios that play in the background of Threads before they drop the bomb. Ironically that starts with the Soviet Union invading Iran before NATO forces fight off the Soviets in the Gulf. If the big bomb is ever dropped, you can guarantee it'll be a little proxy war that kicks things off.

Been wanting to watch this for a while, thanks for the heads up.

It's on Internet Archive too, I believe.
You can also watch "The Day After" on YouTube, admittedly it's not as hard hitting.

A hard watch but very relevant for the day, plus, it's only Sheffield which wouldn't be missed anyway.

40 years ago this weekend met my missus at Putney railway station.

Remember how shocking this was 40 years ago, also similar US thing around the same time called 'The day after' which apparently led Reagan and Gorbachev to cool the 80s arms race. Easy to forget that until the late 80s we were sat on a permanent precipice of nuclear war - most likely accidental.
