thursday/sunday or wednesday/saturday

Personally it great for me as I have two lads that both play football on a Saturday so they don't have to miss any more matches.

The reason its hated is because your rivals have always got the upper hand playing first, and your always playing catchup. However, with United also in the Europa League, they'll be in the same position so its not that bad.

...can someone please tell me what the difference is...... other than sunday is the day of rest and time to praise the lord.

why does thursday/sunday seem to be feared and blamed for pretty much everything (we're always really tired on a sunday after a thursday match and that's why we were thrashed eight nil), whilst the wednesday/saturday routine of the chumps league means everyone is fresh as daisys and ready to give whoever a good thrashing.

I assume it's not saturday night on the piss.....
None whats so ever imo.

-- Thu Dec 08, 2011 3:14 pm --

Its a kick in the teeth for us overseas fans as getting a sunday flight with ryanair is bloody awkward on sundays.
whats the farest place we may after travel mate.

Personally I just prefer a midweek game being on Wed rather than Thurs. From the football aspect I would have said it would have been an issue if Utd( who look like are the main challengers for top spot) had been playing Sat and us on Sunday.

Eg this weekend, with them playing Sat if they close the gap to 2 points then its a little bit more pressure on us to get something at Chelsea on Mon.

If every league game after Europe they had been playing on Sat and us on Sunday then I think it would have been more pressure, but as they got knocked out too I don't see it making a big difference.

Ok, so we're playing say Chelsea on Sunday 4.00pm. They played Tues night in CL, and we've just flown in 5.00am Friday from Russia/Ukraine. No disadvantage? 1 day training to prepare? If we take this competition seriously we WILL miss out on something bigger. Even the FA cup is bigger.

Rivals only have the upper hand if they win!!
Turn it around and we could have the upper hand say if Arsenal or Spurs / Chelsea draw or lose. Mancini could rest one or two players knowing that a win may not be as vital (not that Im saying we put a team out not minding if we lose, I'm sure you know what I mean)

I suppose if we've got a really big match there's a good chance it will be shown on Sky on the sunday in any case. In those situations it would be better if our preceding game was played on the wednesday rather than thursday?
