Ticket Points Sales Tracking

There are some good suggestions. I think random ticket collection isn't a bad thing in small numbers. However, the club should need to inform the purchaser at least 7 days in advance so that they can plan and change their plans accordingly. And there should possibly be the option to return the ticket without punishment after the they've been informed too. If there was to be any punishment for the wrong person collecting a ticket or a no show, it should only be done if the buyer has had an option to return it and ignored or turned it down to chance their arm.
Tricky thing is with a ticket collection is that really it only needs to be enforced for two games a season, there's no point doing a ticket collection for Brighton or Wolves away. Maybe for a Boxing Day game or a small allocation but generally people are only arsed about United and Liverpool away. And if I was that way inclined and I was going to make £500 for a ticket to Anfield at the end of the month I'd drive to Liverpool, pick it up that morning and give it to this tourist - probably worth the £20 in petrol.

Once baldy and the big fella fuck off and we go back to being also-rans it will be easier for people to get tickets to Everton, Villa, West Ham, Newcastle etc. and this will be less of an issue overall.

Yep. God forbid anybody mentions the points that West Ham, Newcastle, Spurs and Brighton have gone down to this season......Certainly not the closed shop some would have you believe. But then, the above games aren't particularly fashionable....

Thanks for your message, Colin.

I think it's the opposite. The current system suits me perfectly. I'm practically guaranteed an away ticket for life, as I currently qualify for each and every ticket point available regardless of my away attendance. I might not attend another away game for the next ten years, but as long as I purchase my home tickets, I am guaranteed a ticket for Old Trafford or Anfield. In what world is that fair?

So it would be to my own detriment if the system changed.

Haven't you just proved my point?

People still pass on tickets even if away ticket points aren't available, as their main intent in doing so is usually to help a friend or family.

I'd also add that my reasoning about catching people up isn't flawed. As I've set out numerous times, including my paper, the current system makes it physically impossible for quite a few supporters to catch-up and for the remainder it has greatly decreased the rate at which they can catch up.

That said, always appreciate feedback on this one. I understand there's a real range of opinion.
Obviously I've known you and your dad a long time and I know you're home & away regulars. I also know how much time, effort and thought you put into City Matters. We don't see eye-to-eye on this issue but that's life. So I don't want you to think I'm having a go at you personally.

But if you reintroduce away points then 'you' (meaning others on high points who do attend games) just pull further away. As I said in my post, if you can mitigate passing on tickets then away ticket points become a viable proposition again. You also probably have to look at the whole points system as well.

One of the shared concerns that we and the club had over the points system was that any change didn't skew existing points totals. One potential solution was just to divide existing totals by 10, 50 or even 100. That maintains differentials but makes it easier to catch up, which is what you want, as long as you have better control over reselling of away tickets.

And do you think that the other groups that get a percentage of the tickets should come under the same scrutiny as you are suggesting for the loyalty points scheme.

Don't be silly. The club wouldn't agree to that scrutiny as it might affect the revenues.

This has been the thing all along. Certain people can stand up for their role in the change, but the way they let only the allocation to points be scrutinised was a disgrace. Especially when everyone of these high pointers already pays the clubs loyalty tax(Platinum)

I've just got 2 and it literally said 9 tickets left in block AL9 only...hasn't got down to my points last couple of times we played them (though was less tickets last year)

You make some interesting points but do you seriously believe that those 2k+ tickets for our next away match are all genuine tickets when our allocation is only around 3000? Given the number that went on sale to points holders at the outset, that 2k+ is clearly a bullshit figure.
When do dipper fans use genuine tickets? Jibbing in is the in thing.
