Ticket prices are now a problem at City

Almost identical attendance to the Champions League games we had last season

I think a problem is being invented here although I do agree that ticket pricing in general is ridiculous. But that's because football in general is so popular and clubs will charge what they can get away with

44k v Napoli, 43.6k v Dortmund - you can't compare Roma to CSKA or Victoria.
Why not? Were those on ITV? I can't remember. We got 38k and 37k last season against those two and with passing seasons the novelty of Champions League is wearing off.

The novelty of the CL? What a ridiculous comment.

Season ticket of 12 years, first europeon home match i've had to miss in my life time - same with carling cup too, simply cannot afford it. I can accept that though, and especially at a time with FFP and how absolutely crucial it is that we bring the money in. I'd much rather be moaning about paying £50 for tonight than about paying £30 for bolton away 8 years ago

What have RSC, Maicon and Scott Sinclair added to this club? Not spending £27m plus wages on three garbage players (and the rest) would do far more towards FFP than charging fans an extra £2 per game.

If you look at it from City's point of view, the crowd was a typical City crowd in Europe and the ground is almost always full with Cup crowds increasing, and thousands with deposits down on the waiting list. The pips maybe squeaking for us, but I can't see City changing ticket pricing. Economically they get it right 95% of the time.

Do you think with 37k there tonight, that they got it right?

Top flight football is becoming an old man's spectator sport.

In the late 60s, 70s and 80s when I watched City as a boy/young man the oldies were in the minority.

Now I'm in my mid 50s I notice that the much larger crowds are mainly full of other older types who were certainly were not at the lower attendance matches when they were young.

Older crowds means higher ticket prices.

I want my club back!

Just back after 3 hour drive after spending another fortune on tickets and travel to watch a team full of overseas football mercenaries represent my club poorly in a competition I don't give a toss for!

I'm struggling to justify why I continue to bother!

It's like we have yearned for years for nights like tonight to only then find it's just not what we expected nor wanted.

My club has been stolen from me and I want it back.

I'm beginning to think the way forward is to go and watch a lower division club and let the telly moguls make their money out of the armchair fans.

With the greatest respect, its not "your" club, its "our" club, you, me an plenty of others, and I and many others don't aspire to the sort of shite performances and results we regularly got, not that very long ago. I want to watch my team in europe, and I enjoy watching them in europe, as I did tonight.

Why do you bother going to a game in a competition you "don't give a toss for" ?

And, if you struggle to justify why you continue to bother, then feel free not too, because I and many others won't miss you.

I had a great day out today, the result was disappointing, but the game was good, it was tight, against a decent side, no team wins every game, especially against quality sides like Roma, who were far better than I expected.

I thought we played OK tonight, not great first half, but we dominated the second, without creating many chances, draw was fair.

Supporting a team is not all about the results nor the competition the team plays in! Try tell that to any lower league or City fan of the last 40 years that they are lesser supporters because they don't play CL football.

Do you seriously believe that the crowd assembled in that stadium are more fervent and passionate than the crowd which assembled to watch City v Juventus (Maine Road) or City v Hamburg more recently.

Do you seriously believe that Hart, Yaya and Fernandinho care for our club more than Corrigan, Doyle and Oakes did? If you do and you actively believe that those who don't should go somewhere else to support another team then you will one day find yourself sat alone in that stadium.

As the well read book pronounces 'Modern Football is Crap' as sadly for genuine City fans and a complete generation that are being socially excluded due to prices, there is no club becoming more modern at a faster rate than my Manchester City.

I've not had a pay rise for 5 years , the wife was made redundant last year , household bills go up every year so something has to give? The powers that be at City simply do not realise that the majority of our fans are working class folk who cannot now afford our ever increasing ticket prices

stop going this season after having a season ticket for over 30 years ..........reason cost !!!! sorry but ive been priced out, was even offered a free ticket last night by one of my mates but just couldnt be bothered!! I cant afford £30 / £50 for mid week games these days. Shame, but thats life.

This is the situation with about 80% of the NW population, thats why we struggle to sell tickets. people budget for season tickets but with all the cup games if you go on the cup schemes you may have to find about £100 on a bad month

I know people who have relocated this season to the top teir as it's £200 cheaper than where they were located. Football is becoming an expensive past time. There is adifference paying £40 / £50 for say a special treat going to a concert than there is paying it every week.

I hope when the new stand opens that prices come down, but i know where i sit they will go up. So I either move or pay a lot more, moving means I move away from the people i know at the match and the social element is a big part of going. The alternative is to watch just about every game on the TV in the pub or at home. For some thats an easy cost saving, I haven't quite got there yet but it's getting nearer.

You say you were priced out and you can't afford £30 £50 a ticket but then you say your offered a free one?

Unfortunately FFP is forcing the club to drive up all revenue streams. Fair it isn't.

The cost of tickets is a small portion of the revenue - It's not FFP it's the owner charging a premium price for a premium product. Unfortunately this is genuinly hitting a lot of supporters. The owners don't live in the real world of the north west. They have two options they keep driving up prices and hope new richer supporters come to follow a top team or they need to realise what type of people the majority of their teams supporter base is made from.

We are supposedly the richest club on the planet, most of the supporters i know would take a reduced season ticket to having etc super comfy chairs etc. Even beer is now over £4 a pint, Wetherspoons can still charge £2 and make money

The normal working class are getting priced out of football.

Watch any game in England and there's empty seats. Every single ground.

The prices are ridiculous and as much as fans love football, paying over £50 for a game every week or two just isn't affordable for a lot of people.

But how can Bayern afford to let there fans have £100 season tickets then? I don't buy that FFP is to blame for it all, in the scheme of things to reduce our prices by £100 a season would be a drop in the ocean to City.
