Ticket prices are now a problem at City

For the Roma game I was asked if I could get 3 tickets for a client of mine who had 2 clients of his over on a business trip from Canada, they wanted to take in a City game whilst here having heard a lot about us recently. I duly obliged and had a chat before and after the game.
Interestingly they thought our ticket prices were cheap in comparison to attending events back in Canada, for example a hockey game can cost 150 dollars or more to attend.
It's the same for basket ball and other sports.
I guess we have it lucky at our current prices, I just wonder how long it will be before we hit those ridiculous prices....?!

Half term as well, expect thousands of high pitched voices

I think it's a chance to prove to them that lower tickets = full house. I'm not saying it'll be Hamburg, but a full house and good atmosphere could convince them to do it more often. We could also respond to the critics by creating a warmer atmosphere. Bananas anyone?

But our fans need to respond to City's response. Another 32,000 gate and City will say, "We could have had that charging a bit more anyway..."

Responded to what? That's pricing for the League Cup.

(For the record I aint complaining about City.)

The kids for a quid deal I'm talking about, this offer wasn't present last time. And with it being so cheap for kids, it could encourage more adults to go at the cheap prices (same as SheffWeds but against Premier League opponents) and take their kids.

But the £1is just for the family stand.

And South Stand level1 for a junior singing section

No it's not. It's all the family stand and South stand level 1

Which means Newcastle are only taking the normal away allocation. 3000.

From the OS.

Joe banging the drum.
Joe Hart has urged fans to roar City to victory in their Capital One Cup clash with Newcastle.

With tickets for the encounter priced from just £1 for under-16s and £15 for adults, the England shot-stopper is encouraging all Cityzens – young and old – to take advantage.

With the kids on half term holidays it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the Etihad Stadium experience with the whole family.

The 27-year-old highlighted the significant effect a strong, vocal backing can have on the players and hopes the support of the blue faithful can spur his side on in the competition.

"Manchester City is, and always will be, a family club at heart," he declared. "It’s in our DNA and that’s what sets the club apart.

"When I’m in goal in front of the Family Stand, I’m always moved by the excitement and passion of the children on a match-day, whom for many, it’s their first ever game, which is always a special moment for any kid.

"It’s great to be able to offer our youngest fans the chance to come and support the team during their half-term holidays for only a quid."

I get the feeling like others on here that there's been a meeting pretty high up at the club to discuss the issues of pricing and the attendance on Tuesday night. It seems the club have taken note of what went on before, during, and after the match, and have decided to act.

Does anyone really believe Joe said ""When I’m in goal in front of the Family Stand, I’m always moved by the excitement and passion of the children on a match-day, whom for many, it’s their first ever game, which is always a special moment for any kid."

Whom? Really "whom"!

I would have liked to have gone on Tuesday night but a ticket for both myself and my wife would have been beyond our budget right now. Maybe £20.00 each instead of £35.00 and it would have been a goer.

It got me wondering that surely a seat going for £20 is better than it remaining empty?

Could we not create a scheme whereby the club releases remaining tickets to registered fans who have made it known what they are willing to pay for a last minute ticket? If say I had registered an interest at £20 but the club sold the remaining seats at £25 then I miss out but if they go to my offer then everyone is a winner. Two seats that would have remained empty get filled.

I'm not sure how fans paying full price for a ticket would feel but I think in their shoes I would ultimately want what's best for the club, and think a sell out would make the game better for my enjoyment. If I were to get a discounted ticket 2 hours before kick off and in seats decided by the club, not me, would that be fair and a viable solution to the problem?

A bit like the value gold ST idea, maybe they should consider doing value gold match tickets for CL/cup games only and only available to ST holders to try and get more in to the ground because it's definitely the ST holders on the whole who are not showing up for these games.

£20 tickets for adults and a fiver for kids but you get what you are given.

That way the expensive seats on level 2 are freed up for people who are happy to pay £40 and the ST holders who wouldn't normally bother are happy to pay £20 and turn up again.

It sounds good to me. I'm sure with a bit more creative thinking we could fill the ground. Ticketing for all football seems so one dimensional. If we are to be a club that does it differently then let's get thinking out of the box for ticketing.

I'm a season ticket holder who went missing when we played Roma, i will be there with my kids vs Newcastle and i was there vs Sheff Wed, it is all about pricing, now they need to get the Champs league pricing correct.

Villa are doing a £38 combo on Saturday for 1 adult and 1 under 16 .compared to £55+£33 £88 to watch the same champions
