Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why is the capacity reduced?

Seats at the back of the 2nd tier removed

I think it's down to 45/46k currently
Actually I reckon the bulk of the reduced capacity is due to the first row being closed all the way around the ground. By my reckoning that's about 700 seats.

I used to play centre half with the QS who had the job of counting the seats after the original build. Some will have done that this time. He/she will give the exact number.

Anyway, are the lost 700 (est.) now officially the fans of the invisible man?

Lovin' this cathartic thread. I was affronted when I was charged 80p on the Kippax. 'World's gone mad', I thought, as I smoked my weed at half-time sat on the piss-drenched terrace. How little I knew...

I have to say, I feel less affinity to the club now than I did a couple of years ago. It seems like a policy to distance themselves from the fans so they can charge more / thrust advertisments in your face. I hope I never get to the point where I won't renew, but after straining my eyes to see the game on Monday, trying to block out the flashing banner adverts in my face, I kind of felt this could be the beginning of the end where it's not enjoyable anymore.

I'm starting to feel like I'm on a slippery slope too. It's worrying.

well I love going to City more than any time in the last 37 years. I will take the cup finals, title deciders, 6-0s, derby victories and European trips, thanks very much. Every fan in the land dreams of what has happened to us. I spent 30 years dreaming of it. I'm not going to let the best era in the club's history pass me by because I'm a moaner, thanks. I'm smelling the roses along the way.

I've very sympathy for those priced out of football. But I've no sympathy for bottom-lip-out Luddites.

If you didn't enjoy thumping Liverpool on Monday you are a clown.

Pretty much spot on

could not agree more, what we see on the pitch outweighs anything else that's a little annoying or distracting, it is only pricing that bothers me.

Down to pricing, I'd say. I've shelled out £48 for a seat in level 2 of the East Stand (levels 1 and 3 were only £4 cheaper, IIRC). That sort of cost will put a lot of people off going to the ''less attractive'' games; they'll simply save up and try to get one of the dippers/vermin/arse/chavs type game than maybe 2 of the Hull/Stoke/Burnley type games.

Sent this to City. Not expecting too much of a reply if I'm honest. I'll let you know. Don't know why folk are just accepting this just because we are good now.

Dear sir/madam. As a supporter of 40 years, an ex season ticket holder, a member for years and a loyal fan who has two City supporting young sons who has spent thousands and thousands of pounds following my team, I want to state how utterly disgusted - and upset - I am on this seasons reiculous ticket prices and the 'cityzen' rip off scheme. How can the club justify charging me £85 for just renewing an existing membership card for myself and my 12 and 10 year old my son's? No wonder we cant sell out our ground tomorrow. I know many fellow blues who are refusing to renew or go to league games as a result. I can no longer afford to take my sons to home league games and they have already asked if we can go to watch Port Vale (my most local club nowerdays) instead! The club must understand that this is going to cost the club millions of pounds a year by excluding current fans and their families. But maybe thats OK with all the new loyal Chinese, American etc day trippers. I'm affraid to say we are the new Man United and you have no idea how upsetting this is to those of us who used to got to York, Wycombe etc. Thanks a lot City plc. I'd love you to forward this to someone in a high place within the club but know for sure you wont!!!

First time in years I've said to myself about my beloved city - 'twats!'

Would be a good letter without the casual xenophobia ;-)
Oh don't be ridiculous. It's not xenophobia it's the truth. The club is being driven now to make money abroad and that's it's priority, which I certainly understand and embrace to an extent, but forgetting it's soul is a red thing and thats wat it's doing. So don't pull the over politically correct bull shit card out mate. This is not what this is about.

100% this

I reckon we will see the introduction of safe standing in the near future which will hopefully mean more affordable tickets. If not the Etihad will just become tourist attraction like the Nou camp.

Pretty much spot on.

I'm surprised how many blues think losing our core fan base is worth it because we're winning trophies.

Success has to be paid for and in a world of FFP, the Sheik cannot extensively subsidize ticket prices. Not that our owner should sudsidize ticket prices: this is a business, not a charity or a fan owned co-op.

The club are trying to become the world's best and you cannot do that on the cheap. Some supporters may not share the aspiration of having their club fielding the best team in the world but I do.

Are you sure that is happening? We were losing fans at a rate of knots in the past, mainly due to the demographics of out fan base
