Tijjani Reijnders - Welcome to City

Thinking about when we Signed Gundogan when he came into the our team it now reminds me of this guy Reijnders especially first half against Leeds where he did a couple of runs with the ball made the wrong choice by shooting of when he shot it got blocked been unlucky! Think it took gundogan around 6 months to us to realise how good he was.. hope it clicks because we need him..

He's been disappointing, there's no getting away from that.

But as you say, it's early days. We stay close to Arsenal and this guy gets up to speed with this league and it will be like a new signing in the New Year.

Oh he was - I remember it well. Mind you there's always been a section of our fan base who expect every new signing to instantly perform like peak Zindane and write them off when they don't.
Gundogan didn't get a lot of love until after his 2 goals in the Villa title decider.

Gündoğan only played 16 games in all competitions in his first season at City because he started the season with a dislocated knee cap and missed the first month, then tore his ACL in the December.

In the 16 games he did play he scored 5 goals including a match winning brace against Barcelona.

Despite featuring much more in his second season, he was still in recovery from that ACL injury.

Pep knew exactly how good Gundogan was from the time both of them had spent in Germany, and he was absolutely determined to bring him to City, despite the fact that Gundogan was still recovering from a bad leg injury at the time .... Pep knew that, once Gundogan had got himself fit again, we'd have quite some player on our hands, and so it proved to be, he was a terrific signing for the modest fee that we paid ........ Reijnders, on the other hand, still has a lot to prove for me, and so far i haven't been all that impressed with him, he's just not living up to all the hype and praise he was getting because of his performances and goals in Italy ... i don't know whether he's trying too hard, not getting involved enough, family are struggling to settle in England, or what the problem is, but for an initial 46m fee, which could rise to 57m, we really need to be seeing a bit more from this guy than we're seeing at this moment in time...... I've got absolutely no confidence that he could play at Fulham tonight and he could make a real impression on the game .. or any impression come to that!

The fee we paid for Reijnders is more than twice the amount we paid for Gundogan too.

In the corner in Block 011. We gave him an ovation when he came to take the corner a couple times . His body language was terrible , didn’t even acknowledge the fans, I know he’s probably focusing on the game but his demeanour looked devoid of confidence and he looked like the weight of the world was on his shoulders . Hopefully a goal will give him the spark again . There is definitely a decent player in there
