Time for a new Right back

The question or scenario you have to imagine is a top level European game, and Richards is amongst the 22, with his physical game and little else in terms of subtlety, finesse or intelligence. Would he fit. Unfortunately no. But a useful young squad player, useful for a burst of energy late on. Will he develop football/positional intelligence, who knows?

Exactly why United targeted his position all match long, and had considerable success, though to be fair, Bridge faired no better.

I neither rate Richards or Bridge, and feel we can improve these positions readily.

Its early i know but we need a world class right back. any contenders?

Well apart from Kolo, how about this Spanish lad
César Azpilicueta
<a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9sar_Azpilicueta" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9sar_Azpilicueta</a>

or this Russian one
Andreas Beck

Agree, we need a new right back if Richards doesn't sort himself out. Not sure why Zabba was signed if Hughes doesn't trust him to come into the team in his preferred position, when the man in possesion of the shirt is clearly out of form. I think Hughes is keen on Richards' physicallity thats why he gets the nod at the minute.

Not sure about replacements, we were linked with Maicon from Inter, but i reckon he's to old and not a great defender. Don't rate Ramos at Madrid either - bit of a show pony.

Dani Alves of Barca is probably the best option, but think he's happy at Barca.

FFS the windows only just closed and we were all saying what a top squad weve got now because of a referees mistake and the fact that richards want to get as far away from the corner flag as possible were now saying we need more players.

1. Richards was playing well until the derby give him a chance.
2. If we do need a change weve got Zab who is a top right back aswell as being versatile playing in midfiled.
3. If we did get a point against the rags (which we should have done) then would we still be saying we need new players?

lighten up weve lost 1 away game so far, we only won 2 last year.

With respect we all have the club's best interests at heart. Nobody is saying that Micah should be written off but form and evidence of upward progress are important.

As an option there are question marks about Zab's pace and lack of height. His performance when Micah was injured at Portsmouth was not impressive.

We know that Hughes was in for Glen Johnson in the summer and it is important to have class alternatives for every position creating genuine competition. Ned is not a right back it seems and Vidal is still learning.

Ideally we would want a home-grown wingback with good Premiership experience but they don't appear to be about. So the search must be wider.

I have been bangin' on about Darijo Srna for quite some time, and I still think he would have put us into another level altogether. It was the only thing I wasn't happy about regarding our transfer summer. When we have the cash, we might as well use it to strengthen our positions that needs to be strengthened.

Trouble is that his recent form, both for his country and club, have been pretty poor.
He's also 28.
