Time for Cool Heads

It is time for cool heads, yes today was atrocious, and yes MH looks like he is not up to the job, lets remember one thing though the nucleus of the squad is essentially the same as that which got Sven the bullet, some of these performances of late both collective and individual leave an extremely bad taste, and in my eyes it is no coincidence that the worst performers seem to be the ones that are to be replaced fact is they are just not good enough.

From what I have seen of MH signings so far there is plenty to be optimistic about, now is not the time to judge him, we need to rid the dressing room of the dead wood and replace them with quality players before passing judgement, this transfer window is an extremely important one for us, essentially it is the first real opportunity to start our rebuilding program in earnest.

Calling for MH head right now is absurd it will do more harm than good, there are no quality replacement managers available due to European competitions, plus it will use up valuable time in our 1 month window of opportunity, and who is to say the new manager would not want to start the entire squad with a clean slate, essentially starting the project again.

I am not ashamed to admit it but I was one of those calling for Sven to be sacked, he faced a very similar situation to that of MH now, we fans are not fools there is obviously something seriously wrong in the dressing room, some very dark influences, lets remember the 1-8 at Boro that finished off Sven, something similar is happening in performances now .

I think the time to pass judgement is at the end of this season, we will then see how far we have come, but for now lets all get behind MH and our side, this month should see some quality players arriving at Coms and hopefully this will bring change with it, things invariably get worse before they get much better thats what i think is happenning here.

Totally disagree.
When Hughes has 11 players on the pitch that he has signed and we get beat like we did today then i would agree.
Ball.......... .Shite,
Dunne......Poo r
Caicido....Poo r
Elano.......Sh ocking
Vassell....Poo r

I don't care if 99% of this board think he should go, i don't.
I expect him to bring in up to 5 players in this window and i believe with those in place and the 3 he has signed we will start turning it around. I also BELIEVE we will get to the Uefa cup final and finish in the top 8.
I also believe Hughes will have city fans eating there hats come May.
Ive said last season the following things and now city fans are seeing it.
Joe Hart is an Average young goalkeeper.
Richard Dunne is no where near good enough for where we want to go.
Micah Richards is vastly overated.
Michael Ball is a championship player at best.
We are way too light in midfield.
We do not have an out and out goalscorer or a forward who can head the ball or hold it up.

Today in the first 25 minutes Forest had 3 corners and won all 3 headers. By premiership standards that is poor. Richards and Dunne were nowhere for all 3!
How many times do you see the top 6 concede goals from corners?
How many times do you see our centre halfs score goals (bar own goals)
Class centre halfs always come up with a few goals a season.

Hughes did well at Blackburn as he had a team of grafters who worked as a team. We have a team of individuals who do'nt know the word "Graft".
Our season is over as soon as we play United. Thats the mentality of the players and has been for years, beat United and the fans will be off our backs.
Hughes will get it right and i'm confident in the owners because they know when you buy coal it does take time to turn it into diamonds with a lot of carefull polishing.
This may be a blessing in disguise and i think it will do us well for the UEFA cup.
I'm going to save this post and post it again in May and see what response i get then as well.
So think when you reply.
I love you all as fellow City fans but i really believe we are in the process of a changing of mentality in this club.
Hughes will get it right, he had exactly the same problems at Blackburn and the same results till he got his own men in.

Well it seems that either the majority of the squad go or Hughes goes. Its a mess.

MH even said it himself today, 4-5 players simply arent up to stratch, and they are not. He knows that and he will address it hopefully in this xfer window.

He's got to the end of the season for me. Top 6/7 finish which is realistic if he brings in good squad players and lets see who UEFA cup goes. Anything below 9th and he has to walk, but im sticking with him for now.

I completely agree.

Sacking Hughes now would not solve anything at this moment, it would make things worse as it would ruin our chances to sign more players in this transfer window (which is of the utmost importance imho as a lot of our players clearly are not good enough).

Plus if you sack Hughes... then what? How are you going to find a replacement quickly? And again... even if you get a replacement within let's say a weel (optimistically speaking here), how much time does that leave for the new manager to find new transfer targets etc. ?

Bottom 6/7 is far more realistic.

Disagree, were playing shocking at the moment, and are 13th, we have had about 3/4/5 decent performances all season in the league, things can only get better as far as im concerned.

But we are getting continually worse. Our only hope is major surgery this transfer window. The team is a shambles, players falling out in public (makes you wonder what its like the rest of the time), lack of any shape/plan, owners who probably dont know whether to stick or twist with Hughes.

The answer may be to bring in 5-6 players who are prepared to do a shift. Not necessarily world class, or even top class, but honest premiership pros. Maybe add a couple of youth team lads into the mix - not necessarily starting, but coming on as sub from time to time to give them experience. Shift the deadwood out, even if it means paying up their contracts and releasing them. This season is now about getting into mid table, and if we can get anywhere in the UEFA Cup that's a bonus.

Something is obviously very wrong at City - either Hughes has to go, or the players that can't be doing with him have to go. And it's a bad time to sack Hughes unless we've got a better manager sat outside.

Nail on the head here blue, and tbh, I would rather see some of the dead wood shipped out before the manager.

Was looking back through some of the teams that Sven picked in the second half of last season, an trying to decide who out of those players deserves to be kept around. I came up with Hart (although I feel he needs to be working alongside a more experienced pro), Garrido and Ireland. They are the only ones who have seen what an opportunity this takeover could be, and have proved they want to be a part of whats to come.

I counted 31 players in the first team squad, and only 11 that I would definitely want to keep around considering where we want to be heading. That doesnt leave the manager much to work with.

Heres hoping he tears that fooking squad apart in the window. It needs it. Badly.

Well considering the numerous (failed) attempts to reform the club in previous seasons I reckon it is some of the players who are the deadwood here.

till .

I bet the majority of managers who are in the league dont have 11 players on the pitch that THEY signed and they just get on with it that is why they are called 'managers' and not 'player recruiters'. People keep making excuse after excuse and I can see it being to late by the time some people realise that we are well in the shit. The result against Hull papered over alot of cracks as even newcastle could/should have scored 4 against them in the 1st 20mins

If he stays there is no other option. Things have gone badly wrong for whatever reason. We will likely see the biggest turnover in players in the clubs history, now and in the summer.

Totally agree, you have to get the mix right a few stars and some glue, players who are prepared to put a shift in,.

I don't think it's a actually a majority. Given our options (my wishful thinking about Jose is not an option), I would not complain in the least if Hughes escorted a number out of the club, tonight, forever. I simply do not want to see certain faces coming down the tunnel ever again. I've had enough of them. I've had enough of them for some time.
