ban it, how can you justify a horses life by fucking betting?
Out of interest.....what are the trainers/jockeys/stable staff/tipsters/media columnists/presenters and the thousands and thousands of other people employed because of horse racing supposed to do for a job?

He didn't say ban flat racing

As mentioned, I simply said ban the jumps.
But..... by your theory, governments should always go to war because it keeps the soldiers, weapons manufacturers. journalists, doctors and nurses etc etc in employment.....

problem you got mate is that these horses were bred, actually given lives to jump over the fences. they jump over fence because people bet on them to do that.

no jumping over fences, or no horse racing and no horses. if i were a horse, i would take my chances rather than not being born. its not a bad life they have you know.

His argument applies to both flat and jumps.

Is this a ten minute argument or the full half hour?

He asked if people who bet will refuse to punt any money on flat racing if hurdles/fences are banned

How many horses have died this past 12 months on the flats? (I don't know the answer)

-- Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:40 pm --

If 2 blokes want to go into a boxing ring and smack the living daylights out of each other, good luck to them. It's called choice. As is getting in a racing acar and driving at 200 miles per hour.

Where is the horses choice in being flogged around Aintree and forced to jump Beachers Brook hemmed in between 10 other horses at the same time? If the horse refuses to jump at the last minute, it can take a handful with it to the glue factory.

When I put the case forward to a pro horse racing supporter, he highlighted the same things
My counter argument was that people have the choice, horses don't.
He then said "have you ever tried to make a horse do something that it doesn't want to do?"
