Time to ban the media from Carrington?

The bad publicity is damaging the club. I dont think it is necessarily the MEN. If you look at the amount of interest generated by "minor scuffles" any paparazzi photographer can sell his pics for a lot of money. The owners must be displeased with this. Even if we have to erect an independent privacy screen within our boundary imo it should be done as a matter of urgency.

In what way is it damaging the club? I've heard two pundits already come out since this broke yesterday and say "this sort of thing happens every week at a club somewhere around the country, it's only because it's City that it has become big news!". Is it stopping us progressing up the league? Is it going to stop us signing Dzeko or anyone else who comes? Is it going to stop the developments in and around the stadium and further around the Manchester area that we have all seen in the Vegas thread?

As i've said, i welcome anyone to slag us off because when we become a real team and a proper top club what can they say about us then? Plus any bad press we get may keep away the unwanted bandwagon jumpers and leave us with SUPPORTERS of the club, not people who are here because they've seen the "City dream" pasted all over the newspapers!

If you own a product you dont want it continually receiving negative criticism. In the worst case scenario the owners may have second thoughts about continuing to invest! Is that damaging enough for you?

You are a purveyor of mania, Dougie sits astride his steps to provide us with daily training reports from outside the fence and the fencing of Kinder Scout is the logical extension of your suggestion that views from public footpaths should be screened off.
Are you a journalist by any chance as you are very good at fabricating things. You dont even know me and I couldnt give a shit about Kinder scout. I am talking about Carrington and City. If its a choice of Dougie sitting outside and the media being allowed to carry on with the relentless agenda helped by the view, then we build a fence and perhaps city may allow dougie to sit inside the fence!
I couldnt agree more!

As it happens I have been guilty of the Fourth Estate crime in the past but not now. They won't let Dougie inside on a permanent basis because they regard him as subversive I think, but what about all the others who wander round the perimeter, chatting with their heroes, nicking practice balls, tripping up photographers, watching the training even. Public training sessions are the norm in Europe, although they are designated - absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be here. The only danger is the helicopters from the dark side trying to second guess our tactics for the derby.

Fights are commonplace at all training grounds - it shows the players mean it - which is good - ban the press - no chance we're in the entertainment industry!

Until as you pointed out we move to Ashton New Road in 4 years. Dont be surprise if more pics and stories come out on what happens on the traing ground. Its only a matter of time before up goes a fence. City have gone past the times when it was OK to hang our dirty washing out in public.

if the media would like to keep on being pathetic let them they are only looking for a story to print what i say is the club should keep on as they are doing and keep on getting the results like with life the media or always going to make up stuff and take things out of contect wich they keep doing i say let them and we keep on getting the results C'MON CITY !!!

Think efforts should be concentrated on the cause rather than the reporting.

I'm no expert on planning permission issues, but I'd imagine that if City were allowed to build a great big Berlin Wall type fence around the training ground, they would have already done so. There are limits to what can be done in these situations and i suspect City are already at those limits with the green fence that is currently there.

Point taken DB and I am sure this is the reason why, the fence has not been made higher. I have never been down to carrington so i dont know the outlay, but how comes the rags dont have the same problem with nosey journos taking photos? Surely they would have to comply with the same panning laws?

Simple; ours has a public footpath running down the side of it, theirs doesn't.

Perhaps we need to buy some of those fast growing conifers. LOL
