Time to move the family stand

Defo put them in the second tier and put a standing/singing section behind the goals need to spread the atmosphere a bit.

Like most PL clubs and stadiums we have an end which is split between home and away fans.

Unlike most other PL clubs and stadiums we don't have a *home end* full of City fans who want to support the team vocally.

Until Mansour, Khldoon and Soriano give us a proper home end filled with City fans by age, demographics, and the desire to support the team vocally, and can afford to do that with affordable tickets, the atmosphere at the Etihad will never change and improve.

It’s a lot to ask, especially from someone who’s not involved but could the 1894 group or another group campaign for a home end? They might listen then.

I think it’s becoming a popular option amongst our fans, just needs some pressure on the club

Yes I know that but the 2 family stands are now full or adults and kids that have now surpassed the age that the family stand was designed for. Have a overhaul and move the adults with under 18s upto level 2 and the rest back down to level 1

Yep recently we have had several wolves Everton and Leeds fans in there - one Leeds even had the cheek to wear a scarf! And snuck a bottle of beer down to his seat! Should have been kicked out instantly!

True, but it sure as hell doesn’t help. Never does one song come from there, I know it seems far fetched but imagine the FS was relocated and an atmosphere grew from there from new ST holders. Sure it might not happen, but it definitely won’t as long as the Family Stand remains there. Then of course there’s the empty seat issue there, which is worse than anywhere else in the stadium and probably the main cause for the Emptihad tag. It’s just not working. A failed experiment and any other notion is laughable imo.

For me the biggest problem is the splitting of the two singing sections - I had one game recently (palace) where I sat in East stand level 2 just above our singing block and so many times I heard two different songs from the East stand and South

Id have hoped the safe standing changes might have allowed us to allow people to relocate to a single area but won’t hold my breath

I think the idea was to clear out level 2 around the ground to have it all corporate like the Emirates or Wembley, but there isn't the demand yet. That is why I assumed they changed NS1 as over time NS2 would be premium.

Oh oy! Already been moved once by the tunnel club to the other side of the TC! Now in 127 literally next to the damn thing! Some great long standing hardcore blues there - leave us be !!

I assume the original reason was to offer a slightly cheaper and safer area for families with children with more appropriate facilities. If someone wants to take small kids to the game then they want them to be able to see the players which just isn’t possible in certain areas with adults all around them, it can be daunting for them.

I guess that’s still needed, only not so big, but that’s because it’s hard to keep it small as they can’t move family groups to similar seats together in other places - e.g. few will agree to move from row T to row C in another stand where the only alternatives might be.

If people think it’s that big a problem then we all need to accept that we might need to shuffle our seats around to make space for those moving out of a smaller family area. Can’t see it happening myself, but the club are offering an area that allows families to save a bit of money, I don’t know why people get so upset about it, especially when a lot of people complain about ticket prices.

I’m sorry a load of 6 year olds don’t make enough noise for you. You’re right, get rid of them, they should be ashamed for not trying hard enough.

I also forgot the thousands locked out every week just desperate to create a febrile atmosphere but can’t because of those six year olds.

There are what? 6-7000 in the north stand? That’s 45,000 of you in the rest of the ground doing almost sod all, but instead of looking at yourselves you blame a load of kids? South stand yesterday was at best 70% full and a wall of silence, watch the highlights and half of you decided to film the penalties rather than even bother to cheer.

There have been plenty of games when the atmosphere is great. Plenty more when it hasn’t.

it’s actually dearer in the family stand than in large parts off SS3

not going to disagree with you, i just think collectively as a club and a fan base we can do better, I remember when I first went I was drawn by the crowd, the noise, and a love of the game, I know times have changed, but to my mind the club have created a huge sterile area, that at the 1st hint of cold weather or a late night leaves a stand half empty, I bet kids who come along and sit in there would enjoy the experience more if the ground was rocking from both ends, they wouldn’t care about being pitch side they would be more captivated by the experience, let’s be honest I bet hardly anyone on here even knows where other clubs place their family stand, I have been to them all numerous times and not one has a set up like us.

It is cheapest like for like, of course SS3 or the back 55/60% is the cheapest in the ground, but by far the worst seats.

If you take young kids to their first games at the back of SS3 they will not want to go again.

Why do we need a family stand anyway? It’s not 1970s Kippax. I know kids generally want to be up close to the action, why not move it round to the corner of CB1, still lower level and sill get a good view of subs warming up but more importantly out of view of the Tv Cameras.
