I'm confused, what more did ye expect, him to skip away happily? Maybe some should grow thicker skins because at this rate, he wont be the last to leave like this.
I don't have an issue with Ireland bad-mouthing Mancini, Cook, Khaldoon or Marwood. That is his right and as such I've no problem with 95% of what he's said since he left us. He thinks they've fucked him over so of course he isn't going to be full of pleasantries for them.

What has pissed me off is the comments about not caring about the results and feeling like he never played for us in the first place. The fans simply didn't deserve that slap in the face. Richard Dunne let his grievances with the club's hierarchy be known when he left, but he also had the dignity to give special mention to the club's supporters. Perhaps he can try to knock a bit of sense into Ireland now they're both at Villa, but I won't be holding my breath.

Stevie will regret all the things he's said about us. When he returns to play at COMS, he'd have been treated as a hero, - doubt that will happen now.

All the hard work he and City have put in, building his career is gone. People will just remember him slagging us off.

A great shame Stevie, you've really pissed on your chips mate and shown less maturity than my 9 yr old daughter. Now fuckin' shut it!

that's just it though, on that day he'll have a mystery injury and won't have th balls to step out on the pitch....

Dunne is a different breed to Ireland. For Ireland, for most young players, it's all about me, me, me, me, me. He couldn't give a shit about the supporters at the moment maybe he will in 5 interviews later, but he is badly hurt and will talk down the club anyway possible. It's nothing personal though, and we really should learn to get over it because it will happen again and again and again.

I've already hated the wanker since he came on the pitch in the Derby and clearly didnt give one ounce of effort to the cause. I hope he snaps his knee ligaments and gets his career ended so he has to sell his fish tank. Cvnt !

He should be professional about it though and leave all the dirty washing behind him rather than put it on th line for the media to look at. Aaahhh diddums lil Stevie didnt like his new boss and more importantly his boss didnt like him. Does that give him the right to lambast everything City a club who has made him wealthy beyond most of our wildest dreams.

The big problem for me is he has had a go or tried to influence at all parts of the club youth players, manager, Given Milner and us the fans by saying that he did not care whether we won or loss. Ireland has a track record of blaming all his managers and he refuses to identify the common issue which is him

, he was treated badly in his mind, and maybe he was, but he was burned and he had a go at those who burned him, and we should get used to it because the rate we're going through players, especially ones who've been around for a while and showed loyalty, we're going to get plenty more attacks. He was badly treated and tossed out from a club he's been at forever can you blame him for being hurt, and obviously he wasn't going to keep his mouth shut. Again, somehing else that escapes many of ye, it's not about the money, and paying someone a ridiculous wage doesn't mean that you can treat them badly or that it'll comfort them and shut them up if they were treated badly. It doesn't give us license to do what we please with them and expect them to smile and nod because we pay them.
His dream wasn't (I presume) to be rich, it was to play football.

He has a go at young players that obviosuly he feels have a massive ego and aren't polite, or whatever way he put it, and to be fair I believe that, I can't see young players who are at the richest club in the world being paid a huge amount will be the most humble or grounded group of players, (it's rich coming from him and his cars though, I would still have considered him one of the young players as well to be fair.) He thinks Given is the best keeper he has ever palyed with and shouldn't sit on the bench, well a lot of people think that and it may well be true, but it wasn't his place to say, and Milner, maybe he is just warning him for what could easily come in front of him, but again it in front of the media wasn't exactly the best idea.

He had a go at what he felt needed saying, there's no going back now, but he was badly hurt and clearly does not like the manager one bit and if what he says is true a lot of players wont and probably don't like him. All of which worries me. But apparently I'm alone on that one.

But he's not a very professional player now is he
the point is he is he gets paid by his employer so he is a paid professional and as such he should have acted like a professional.

but he was badly hurt and clearly does not like the manager one bit and if what he says is true a lot of players wont and probably don't like him.
so you admit that he is hurt and that he has let these feelings out in the media. I for one couldnt give a flying **** if the players like or dont like the manager and whether he likes them or not. They are professionals doing a job and all I want to see is my team doing well on the field and the feeling that they want to win how they feel about each other or the manager is immaterial.

Do you like all your workmates or your boss and would you let that influence how well you do your job if you did you would soon be out on your ear

IrishMacca....are you related to him mate? Lol......seriously though....for God's sake, he is an average player who has NOT been treated badly....he was paid VERY well for all his time at City (and returned that with one good season) and his lifestyle and wealth is down to his time with us....the new manager came in....they didn't get along.....he's gone to another club.
That's the way of the game, since forever, not just since City got rich. It doesn't excuse his tantrums.

I have now lost ALL respect I ever had for Stephen Ireland.

I hope he fails miserably at Villa to begin with, maybe a season and two.

Once again many of you are basing your anger on distortions blown up by the media, and then twisted again by the anti-Ireland brigade on here. He was pushed out , he probably is a bit pissed off and a little angry, and has said a few things he is likely to regret, however reading some of his supposed quotes in the media and on here, and actually listening to his interviews are two different things. Things can be taken out of context. He felt detached from the team, unwanted and left out, is it that hard to comprehend that our results started to become less important to him. He obviously realised that wasn't right which is why he highlighted it. Im sure anyone being in a similar position at work or playing for a local team may start feeling the same in similar circumstances. Yes he was getting paid lots of money put that doesn'y change your emotive state, the lad was being honest. He served us well, and was always good to the fans, there is no way i would boo him, and those that do i think are letting the club down, how do you think our present players will look at it, will make us look a right bunch of tossers if you ask me.

just be quiet stevie, your gonna turn into a joey barton.

you've left, yes you've got sour grapes, just end it there, you've got your move, you've got first team football, just hush before you lose alot more fans.
