Time to think straight

Is Hughes a clueless fuckwit, as one poster wrote, or are other factors at work.

If you were playing for City at the moment, and you are not a fan but an employee, what, perhaps, would be the collective mindset?

Given that your achievements in the game have been minimal, other than picking up huge amounts of money. what would you think of your future at a club that now finds itself with greater resources than any other club in the world?

You have, as a group, grown quite wealthy, but never really bothered about getting to the top table, because you know you are good enough for the premier league, but the top teams have never craved your signature.

You have performed in the comfort zone. You do enough, but you don't extend yourself.

And all of a sudden, you find yourself at the richest club in the world, with a new manager, new owners, new chairman, and all the new people say they know where the weaknesses lie, and those problems will be addressed.

I would have thought your pleasant little comfort zone would have become a little uncomfortable.

So you have quiet words in little groups, decide your strategy, and start throwing games, so that by the end of December, you are in the relegation zone, with no chance of qualifying for Europe, with no chance of the club attracting the worlds best players to put your position in peril.

And the comfort zone is restored.

OK, this may be fanciful, but given the stated aims of the owner, what would you think if you were a journeyman footballer at Manchester City.

Who is to blame, the manager or the players?

And if you were the manager, what would you do about it?

Just a thought.

After reading thread upon thread over the last few months and seeing the performances on the pitch it is obvious to anybody that we are in a right mess. The problem is with the squad of players we have we are not good enough to take us into the top six, then when you throw in players seeing their arse for not playing, players thinking that they are going to be disposed of in january no matter what and a list of injuries(fake or real) and stories of internal problems it's no wonder we are in the bottom three.

Imagine if we got a new manager tomorrow and he read this forum from the last few months and our opinions of our players :- dunne - error prone, richards - error prone bit of a big time charlie, both left backs not good enough, elano - inconsistent see's his arse, hamann - lost his legs, robinho - class but only at home, johnson - shopping, drinking, thinks he's made it etc.., benjani - crap, vassell - crap, jo - crap, evans - too young, sturridge too young etc...
i could go on

Being a manager of city at this time is probably one of the hardest jobs in football because we have all this money, not been able to spend it and when we can due to the problems it has caused nobody decent will want to come. If we keep hughes or not people are gonna have to accept this is gonna take a long time to sort out and hang in there.

Some of the the threads today with people just slagging each other off are pointless.

Sorry, but all of that is wrong.

It's the managers job to tell players to show their cards. Prove they are good enough to play for the team or fuck off elsewhere.

Ireland has done this.

Hornets nest mate. The dirty fucking secret though is that there are more blues than will admit it who think something funny was going on the back end of last season as well...attempts to shaft Frank and Euro qualification. I can tell you now you aren't the only one who thinks some of the, er, performances are a bit, er, much. It's not the kind of thing that's stated publicly though, and you know why.
