Time to unleash AJ?

I think the position he plays in is the reason why he drifts in and out of games but he can still get better.

Obviously the potential is there but he definatley needs to improve, other fans seem to have this view that he's being mistreated by Mancini and shines everytime he plays because of what they see on motd but like last night he drifted out of the game, seems to have a habbit of that but he'll get there soon.

He wasn't on the ball as much as Nasri and Silva, but when he was he hit the crossbar, scored and almost scored with his last kick. He makes things happen.

No doubt about that but when he isn't making things happen he needs to do more. Last night was a typical Johnson game. Shit opposition, fancy shot, fancy goal and 95% of the game doing nothing.

Needs a run of games but in them games needs to do more. His goalscoring record is incredible, 6 in 13.

Did you guys see the moment in the match, a short while after johnson's goal, when he helped out with the defence and mancini started shouting "Adam! Adam!" and then gave him a thumbs up? I liked that. It showed how much Bobby appreciates johnson taking aboard his advice and improving as a player. Every time I see johnson play, he is only getting better.

I did. Good to see.

Also note that Johno scored from a Central midfield position.

He goes out wide because Mancini tells him too to stretch the game across the pitch. That said, I think he has tremendous skill and could actually play as a general purpose AM as well as Silva & Nasri. Boy could England do with such a player.

Disagree. He didn't get much of the ball, but when he got it he was very good.

Wingers are never going to be as involved as central midfielders

AJ does create space and brings other players into the game. I loved the flick onto Ageuro in the Carling Cup against Arsenal. The 7th best goal of the season after the 6 against the rags. He'll have a lot to contribute next year as we push on in all four comps.

I am sure as a winger he is told not to just go at the full back everytime but to assess whether it's the "right" time and if not just pass and keep the ball moving. No point in just going for it if he is double marked as we are about keeping the ball rather than taking chances which are more likely to fail.

Seems to me it's working and he is getting better. Last night he got stuck on the left and I thought even more isolated than usual.Maybe just Mancini having a look to see how it worked but I reckon,as I think AJ does, that he is more effective from the right.

spot on . good post.
